I bought a couple so that I could leave one in the car in case it got stolen and my keys because I have a history of misplacing them.I also write technical articles for a large social group and I wanted to see what air tags are all about so that I could feature them as a subject for the column.We can already track each other here, using our iPhones, but if the car was stolen, we’re never be able to track it. I wanted to see whether these would be any good for that.Here’s what I discovered:They are perfect within bluetooth range, absolutely excellent.Outside of that, so long as someone with an iPhone passes within about thirty feet or so, the FindMy network will register their location. This really works, and works well, I’ve been trying it on various trips out and about. If, however, nobody comes anywhere near with an iPhone, then it won’t register. Bit unlikely though. There are one and a half billion active iPhone users in the world.They are light, small and inconspicuous.They come with a loop to fix to your wallet, keys or luggage.The pair I bought came with a fresh battery as a spare.I wrapped one up in paper tissue and slid it behind the ceiling panel of the car, where it works perfectly.They don’t work with Android phones. I think they do their own.They are a third of the price of Apple AirTags and seem to do the same thing.

Pretty impressed with these alternative trackers. Purchased as a backup cheaper version of an Apple air-tag but happily sit side-by-side with them on the "Find my" App. Easy to set up and use and I've actually bought a second pair.One small issue which prevented me giving it 5 stars - changing the battery is a wee bit tricky. Especially when the original is araldited in! Took a bit of fiddling about with it and finally using a penknife to free it up - thereafter easily removed, replaced and re-paired to my iPhone
