my original part started to get real difficult to pull which meant. I didnt realize (until i replaced the part) that it had filled with enough dirt to gum it up and cause some minor rust in the actual cable.first it didn't pull clean, then the soldiered connection piece broke, and then all my cheap tie fixes snapped repeatedly. There was not other option, replace the part or replace the mower. fortunately i was able to use the model number and find an old manual online and a parts list. doing an internet search, i found this part that supposedly replace my part. when i opened it, i was initially concerned that it would not fit. Well it did fit. it was a little shorter which i didn't notice till i collapsed the push bars for storage, but with a slight adjustment, it worked out ok. The cable was a bit to long. I had to drill another hole in handle for device to function properly. Maybe I selected the wrong one.

Took more time to remove the old part because a pair of pliers was required to squeeze the clip retaining fingers at the engine bracket interface and also needed to cut two zip-ties where the cable was held to the handle- the new part just clipped in with a simple push- I did need to provide two replacement zip-ties that didn't come with the cable - perfect fit - in all, it took about 5 minutes to have my mower up and functioning again
