There's nothing wrong with this. It works fine. It's just kinda half-assed in every way possible. The corners are sharp enough to file your nails with. The screws are tiny, and not captive. The USB port doesn't inspire confidence in its durability. There's no strain relief. But because it's aluminum, the heat sinking doesn't suck, and it works.It's just like… that the engineering team was seriously lazy, and nobody cared to make this even slightly nice.

Ich weiß gar nicht wie viele externe Gehäuse ich für Festplatten schon gekauft habe. Die meisten waren entweder aus billigem Plastik und wenig widerstandsfähig oder hatten merkwürdige Steckerverbindungen, die nach 2 Wochen schon gebrochen sind.Mit diesem Gehäuse könnte die Suche nun endlich zuende sein. Es macht optisch einen sehr wertigen Eindruck, ist hochstabil (das Gehäuse gibt auf Druck von aussen nicht nach) und der USB-C Anschluß sitzt fest im Gehäuse und wackelt nicht (bei vielen Gehäusen ist hier die Schwachstelle: Zu viel Spiel und damit irgendwann Brüche).Da ich nur eine konventionelle HDD in diesem Gehäuse betreibe, kann ich über die maximale Geschwindigkeit des Controllers nicht viel sagen, aber ich erreiche Übertragungsraten per USB.31 von bis zu 105mb/s. Das ist für mich völlig ok.Es wird "nur" ein USB-C auf USB-C Anschlußkabel mitgeliefert. Wer wie ich ein Kabel für den Anschluß an USB Typ A braucht muss das noch extra dazukaufen.Der Einbau der Festplatte in das Gehäuse ist relativ einfach, aber nicht ohne Werkzeug möglich. Die untere Aluminiumplatte wird mit 4 Schrauben am Gehäuse befestigt und diese dann mit Gummifüßchen abgedeckt. Alles was dazu nötig ist, ist dabei (inkls einem kleinen Schraubenzieher). Das ist also kein Gehäuse um ständig Festplatten zu wechseln (dazu sind dann eher die Gehäuse mit werkzeugfreier Montage geeignet), aber der Ein- Und Ausbau ist natürlich trotzdem immer möglich. In der Lieferung ist auch ein Stück Schaumstoff enthalten, das von Innen an den Deckel geklebt wird (selbstklebend). Nach dem Schliessen des Deckels (bzw Bodens, der Deckel ist unten) fixiert dieses Schaumstoffpad die eingebaute Festplatte. Das Laufwerk wackelt und klappert nicht und hat einen guten, festen Sitz im Gehäuse.Fazit: Dieses Gehäuse ist eher eines in dem man auf Dauer die selbe HDD/SSD betreibt. Für den ständigen und schnellen Wechsel von Laufwerken ist es nicht geeignet. Die eingebaute Festplatte ist in diesem Gehäuse gut geschützt (kein Verbiegen, fester Sitz) und über das Aluminium wird die Wärme auch gut abgegeben.Wer ein gutes, stabiles, stylisches Gehäuse zur dauerhaften Verwendung mit der selben Festplatte sucht ist hier richtig.Zur Farbe noch eine Anmerkung: Auf den Bildern hier bei Amazon wirkt das Grau eher wie ein helles Silber. Der Farbton ist aber eher ein Grau ähnlich wie das Spacegray bei Apple, würde ich sagen. Neben einem Rechner, der ebenfalls ein Aluminiumgehäuse hat (Apple MacBook, MS Surface) macht sich das Gehäuse aber sehr gut.

I like how this thing looks. It's small and metal and matches my Apple hardware nicely. I bought it to replace a cheaper enclosure which is plastic. However, the process of installing drives in the plastic enclosure is: Slide the inner housing out of the outer housing, pop a new drive in, slide it back together. The process for this case is: remove 4 tiny screws from the bottom, take off a metal plate, pop in the new drive, put the metal plate back in place, screw back in 4 tiny screws, put little rubber feet stickers over the screw holes. You kinda need to do this to make it sit nicely on things, but now if you ever want to open it again you have to peel off the feet stickers and they'll probably never go back on. Maybe why it came with 6? So you have two replacements for when you need to replace them? Why not 8? And there's a square foam sticker as well, not mentioned in the documentation, but I assume you're supposed to put it inside to keep the drive from raddling around? Seems sub-optimal.But worst of all, I've run speed tests and this new enclosure is slower than my old cheap one! What? Why? I guess my assumption that any USB-C enclosure of this kind would be pretty much the same was wrong. The attached screenshot shows the new ICY Box enclosure as well as the cheaper UGREEN enclosure.

Forse un po’ costosi ma sono completamente in alluminio e di ottima costruzione, il controller sembra ottimo e piuttosto veloce, con all’interno svariati modelli di SSD tra cui Samsung, svolge letture e scritture davvero veloci. Sono abbastanza leggeri ma molto solidi e i piedini in gomma che coprono le viti sono perfetti, rendono il box molto stabile su tutte le superfici. Ho comprato un quinto box anche per mia figlia che lo usa con un SSD per il backup del Mac, il colore è molto simile allo Space Gray dei Mac di Cupertino.
