iRobot Roomba j5 (j5178) Combo Saug- und Wischroboter

Definitely a basic model.Disappointed with functionality-no carrying handle, unlike my old model, which is a nuisance when you live on 3 levels.Struggles to get going on pile carpets and suction appears poorer than older model.Cannot do a spot cleanNeeds Internet connection so no good if you live in some country areas and don't subscribe to broadband and a smart phone (yes, that is a possibility!)So, can't recommend.

This is our 2nd Roomba robot vacuum cleaner; we already have Roomba R981 since 2018 - it's still going strong and we're still impressed with it.I would say this new one j5 is even more flexible as it works on more surfaces and had a mopping function thus great for wooden floor in the kitchen etc.We use our older Roomba upstairs where there are carpets and this new Roomba j5 downstairs where it’s largely wooden floor with some rugs, the j5 is perfectly happy to move from wood to carpet and it even knows what surface it is on and adjusts is performance accordingly.Setting up is extremely simple, take it out of the box, plug in the base and stand the robot on it, let it change, download the mobile app and (once changed) click 'clean' - that's it. The robot will then go round your house and clean it, returning to the base when it needs recharging and returning when it's finished. It will send you updates as it goes along. At the end of the cleaning cycle, it goes round all the edged in all the rooms -i.e. by the time it finished it knows exactly the layout of your house / flat. It's very gentle too, it does not bang into anything too hard.The app is fantastic, it even shows you how it cleaned, where it cleaned etc. and it’s very easy to use.Removing the dust / cleaning it is simple too, although the dust container is quite small, it's just about enough for around 100 sq meters / 1000 sq feet, however that is OK as we have it setup to run every second day while we're at work so our place is never too dirty.As to stairs - it's clever enough not to fall down - it never did in our house.As to noise, it’s a vacuum cleaner so it will make some noise but it’s not very loud plus it’s best to let it run when no one is at home but remember it can get stuck on socks... i.e. do not leave your clothes on the floor when Roomba is working!

First couple of days, while it mapped, it was fine. But then just reversed into a table leg and wouldn't clean. After a couple of weeks of poor customer service from iRobot, I returned it

I've been looking and been after one of these for a while now and I really wish I'd got one sooner.With us having kids and cats the kids bring in bits in the hallway off there shoes and the cats fetch in dirty paw prints in the kitchen.We have laminate wood in our hallway and living room and vinyl in our kitchen.This clever little hoover once it's mapped your floor layouts goes about it's business helping keep your home clean and tidy.You can either use the vacuum bin which picks up a fair amount of waste or you can swap out and use the combi bun which Hoover's and mops at the same time.Obviously the combi bin won't pick up as much as it's a shared accessory for waste being picked up and then has a separate water tank for your cleaning solution.Going from our living room to our kitchen there is a slight lip and the mop/vacuum bin can't get past this but if we just use the vacuum bin it has no problems at all getting up and into the kitchen.Id recommend doing a couple of map runs first for it to get a good idea of your layout before sending it out on a vacuum run, but this being said this clever little device is always learning and once your vacuum run is over it gives you the option via the app to review the job just done.This can tell you certain information the robot encountered during its clean and will also take pictures of hazards it thinks need checking which you can pick the option of leave this area alone. Temporary obstacle ect.If you have animals or children ect I'd definitely recommend getting one of these little robot's to help keep your home that little but cleaner as we all know there's nothing worse than just cleaning and mopping and then the kids or animals come in with dirty feet/paws 😖😭😄The app is really simple to understand and helps you via onscreen instructions, I have also added it to my Alexa compatible soundbar so now I can just ask Alexa to vacuum and off it goes😲😃Overall I'm really pleased with this little robot cleaner and would absolutely recommend it 👍👍
