The crimps look clean and are the contact positioner makes it easy to quickly make repeatable crimps without a lot of hassle and mucking around. The crimp contacts come out straight and slide into the housing easily.I've never used the official $400 tool from Anderson but I imagine this is how the official tool would work. I can find no faults. Before this, I've used dies for non-insulated terminals to crimp PowerPoles and it's fussy since the cross section for those changes halfway through the die thickness to accomodate for the conductor grip and the insulation grip which PowerPoles do not need. PowerPoles are only supposed to grip the conductor so what usually happens is a kinked crimp contact that isn't straight and won't slide into the housing without a lot off fuss.In case you're curious, these dies do NOT fit the Paladin/Greenlee/Temp CrimpAll 8000. The issue is the distance between the screw hole and the edge of the jaws on the frame are slightly different distances between the two crimpers so if you try and stick these jaws into the Paladin then the shoulder on the die does not rest against the jaws of the frame and the die can rock. More importantly, when a contact is being crimped the die can be forced apart so don't close completely. The strange thing is that you do not see this when there is no contact in the jaws. When empty it will look like the jaws close properly and if you try to force the jaws apart you won't be able to. It only happens when a crimp contact is present.
