2020 Update:Having owned the boat for ~10 years, toilet maintenance has been required multiple times. We used the Jabsco service kits in 2013 and 2016/17 and recently cleaned and lubricated the pump parts (for better flushing) and replaced the joker valve due to back pressure causing leakage from the tank into the bowl. After each maintenance the toilet performs well then slowly degrades. If we used the boat a lot more, we would do this every year rather than waiting several years in between. Annual cost to keep the toilet flushing averages out to under $20, which is worthwhile for a critical boat function!(2013) This is a routine maintenance part for a marine toilet. Some folks replace these parts on 1 or 2 year interval without waiting for leaks to develop. Our boat toilet had a small leak around the pump handle but we think it was 5-6 years old. It comes with more parts than you need for any given toilet but the instructions are very clear. Fixing the leaky pump handle took less than 1 hour for a novice including carefully reading instructions and cleaning the existing parts. It's been 2 months and it's working fine.
