Jazz Harmony: Think - Listen - Play - A Practical Approach

The book is really good. It has a very unique approach and it emphasizes how important it is to understand how chords/modes/etc sound instead of focusing on abstract theory that doesn’t mean anything without the music. It is evident how much work the author did over many years to put something so comprehensive together. At around 600 pages, this is definitely not the typical Hal Leonard or Alfred “methods”. But much, much better if theory is what you want to learn.That said, I am very disappointed that there is really no app as described, and the audio files are not included! Using the link in the book it takes me to the publisher’s website to purchase a zip of vanilla mp3 files for 6 euros!

This book is simply wonderful - so much so that I felt compelled to write my first ever review. Within its pages you will find an abundance of engaging, clear, detailed and insightful discussions on a wide variety of aspects of the art of music in general and jazz in particular, many of which I'd never encountered before. Beautifully edited and accompanied by a wealth of supplemental online material (audio and pdf), it's an incredible source of information, knowledge and wisdom on music, jazz and beyond.

This is the only book you will ever need to read if you want dive deeper into music harmony. It covers everything in a very interseting and playful way. Can't recommend this enough.
