Heel onnauwkeurige meting.

If you find this review useful, it'd be great if you could click the appropriate button below. :-)----------I'm new to the aquarium hobby, so you should take that into account when you're reading this review. Those with more experience and understanding of aquarium water quality will have a much better perception of the value of this product. That said, in the space of a few weeks I acquired two tanks - one 55l and one 22l. The bigger tank is intended to provide a home for a few fish and the smaller will be a little 'nano' aquarium for plants and shrimp. I've been reading a lot about aquariums, so I'm coming up to a level of basic proficiency. The first tank that I set up, was the 55l (It's an Aqua One Aqua Nano 40 and I really like it - unfortunately, not currently available on Amazon). I set it up with a few plants and left it running for 4 weeks (in the hope that it'd cycle in that time frame) and then went and bought some fish - dalmation mollies because I was assured that they're pretty hardy and would help the aquarium mature. I didn't test the water before adding them (shame on me), but thankfully, they survived. It was only later that I even thought about getting a test kit.Once I received the test kit, I immediately tried it out on the 55l tank. It's very easy to use. Wave a paper test strip around in the water for two to three seconds and then start reading the results. You read the result for the CL2 first (within a second or two), then wait a minute to to read the result for the other five (pH, KH, GH, NO2 and NO3). They're all easy to read and it's a matter of checking them against a colour chart printed on the outside of the tube that contains the test strips. The colour differences are subtle, but easily discernible, at least they are to my (less than perfect) 50 year old eyes. There are 50 test strips in the container.I can't validate the accuracy of the tests, since I don't have anything to compare against, but I was pleased to note that the water in my aquarium was 'reasonable'. Nitrate (NO3) levels were low and (the more dangerous) nitrite (NO2) levels were zero. Hardness was high (there are two measures of hardness, KH and GH), acidity (pH) was slightly low and chlorine (CL2) levels were zero. It's a shame that the kit didn't come with an ammonia test. If it had, this would have covered almost all of the bases for testing aquarium water.NB - in case you're wondering, the test strip in the photo was for my (uncycled) nano tank.
