I can confidently say it’s made a subtle but impactful difference to how tidy and safe our countertop looks and functions. I set it up to manage a messy cluster of cables that had gathered behind our grinder, phone chargers, and other small appliances. The area was becoming both a visual eyesore and a potential hazard, especially with food prep happening nearby. Once I placed the box over the extension cable, neatly threading the cords through the side vents, the entire setup looked clean, deliberate, and, most importantly, much safer. One thing I appreciated straight away was the construction of the box. The top panel is crafted from a faux wood material, which, while not real hardwood, looks surprisingly good in a kitchen setting. It blends in well with wooden or black appliances and doesn’t draw attention to itself. The base is solid black ABS plastic, which initially made me sceptical about its weight-bearing capacity. But I took a bit of a chance and placed our small grinder on top — a machine we use daily — and the box hasn’t budged or buckled even once. It’s incredibly sturdy for the price point. There’s been no flexing, no warping, and even with vibrations from the grinder in use, the lid has stayed firmly in place without popping open.Given it was going into a kitchen environment, I had concerns about whether the materials were food-safe, or at the very least safe to use near food prep areas. The listing claimed high-temperature-resistant and odour-free ABS, but I still did my due diligence. I checked the recycling code on the plastic (ABS is typically classed as safe for indirect food contact), gave it a sniff test upon arrival — no chemical smell at all — and wiped it down thoroughly with a food-safe surface disinfectant spray before use. The interior surface is smooth and easy to clean, with no sharp edges or problematic seams where dirt could collect, which gives me peace of mind in terms of hygiene. It’s now a permanent fixture on the counter, and I feel good knowing it doesn’t compromise our kitchen cleanliness. The design is straightforward yet clever. The lid has small notches allowing cords to thread through without needing to be kinked or forced. This also means the box can be placed right against a wall, with all the cables exiting discreetly from one side. Even when there’s nothing placed on top, the box doesn’t spring open like some cheaper ones tend to — the fit is snug and secure. Ventilation is well thought out, too. The open base and side slits allow airflow so nothing gets too warm inside, even with a couple of plug-in devices running most of the day. When it comes to internal cable management, I found the JIAMIAN box surprisingly spacious. One of my main concerns before ordering was whether it could handle the bulk of a large UK four-gang extension lead with thick plugs — especially those fitted with USB charging ports or chunky adapters. I personally tested it with two different four-way extension leads, both of which had substantial plug sizes, and they fit without forcing the lid. That, to me, is a major win. Many cheaper boxes will claim “large capacity” but can't handle modern UK power strips once the plugs are inserted. This one does. There's room not only for the power strip itself, but also enough breathing space around the plugs so the cables aren’t bent at awkward angles, which is important for long-term cable and device safety.I’d also read in some reviews that users found the lid flimsy or tricky to put on, but in my experience, as long as you’re not overstuffing the box and the cables are laid in a reasonably organised fashion, it clips on with no issue. It doesn’t slide around once fitted either — a detail worth mentioning, especially if you plan to use this in high-traffic or appliance-heavy areas like I did.Aesthetically, I like how the box elevates the look of an otherwise neglected area. Previously, our counter looked like a jumble of wires, wall plugs, and blinking charger bricks. Now, with this tidy box in place, it has a uniform, clean appearance. It’s more than just hiding the mess — it’s creating a feeling of calm and order in a space where functionality matters. If you’re like me and often find yourself irritated by visual clutter while cooking or making tea, this is a very satisfying fix.Another overlooked benefit is how much safer this makes the environment. We have pets in the house, and while our dog isn't a cable chewer, it only takes one curious sniff or paw to dislodge a plug or knock something off. The tidy box gives a secure shell around exposed power points. It’s also ideal for families with toddlers — even if you place it under a desk or TV unit, it’ll block access to sockets and prevent accidental unplugging or worse. If I were being picky, I would say a slightly longer or more flexible internal channel for cable routing might improve it further, but that’s hardly a flaw. I also wouldn’t mind if it came in more kitchen-friendly colours — perhaps a lighter grey or even something resembling brushed steel to blend better in ultra-modern settings. That said, the black and faux-wood design works well enough with a wide range of décor styles.Overall, if you’re after a budget-friendly, genuinely functional cable organiser box that works for larger UK plugs, USB adapters, kitchen appliances, routers, or desktop gadgets, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this. It's not just a cable storage solution — it’s a safety upgrade, a visual improvement, and a surprisingly satisfying way to streamline your living or working space. I didn’t think I’d be this pleased about a plastic box, but here we are.
