Fyller samma funktion som Canons eget motljusskydd, men för en dryg tredjedel av priset.

As the Canon lens hood is not in stock almost everywhere and nearly 3x the price I thought I give this a go. Unlike a few 3rd party lens hoods I've bought it fits and locks in place securely, at least as well any genuine Canon hood I've used on an L series lens. As advertised it clicks into place forward and reversed for storage and isn't massively wide on the lens like some lens hoods so doesn't take up too much extra space in the lens bag. The plastic seems to a bit thinner than some other lens hoods I've used but seems sturdy enough for the RF50, whether or not it's thinner than the Canon version I don't know, but there aren't any moulding blemishes or weld lines in the plastic. (Yes I've received some that were really that rubbish, not from JJC). Finish on the outside is a semi gloss, maybe a bit more shiny than the lens and there seem to be a matt finish on the inside, not flocked just a sand blast surfacing on the moulding. How much this reduces glare remains to be seen, clouds arrived with the lens hood, but it looks like it will give some protection to the front element even focused right out.
