Big bouncy ball, it’s squishy and soft and does have a bounce to it. It’s quite heavy not ridiculously so but if it’s hits anything on a table it will knock it all off! The dog took a shine to it and has tried to bite it, thankfully it’s not inflatable and won’t burst. At first it looks like a real basketball, the size is similar and the design in true to that. It’s ideal for a little kick about in the living room and my little boy loves it so much.

Having recently tried out this ‘silent’ basketball, I’ve found it offers a unique twist on the classic game, especially for indoor use or young children. The ball is noticeably lighter and softer than a standard basketball, which makes it less intimidating for little ones who might be nervous around larger, heavier balls. Its foam construction ensures it won’t puncture or go flat, and it does a good job of reducing the usual noise that comes with indoor play-ideal for keeping peace in the house. While the grip is good and it’s sturdy enough for regular shooting practice, the bounce is quite limited. If you’re hoping to practise dribbling or hone your basketball skills, you may find it lacking, as it takes considerable effort to get much bounce out of it. The stitching and finish aren’t the highest quality either, so I’m not sure how well the outer cover will hold up over time, particularly if used outside or on rough surfaces. That said, as a safe and fun option for children, and for keeping playtime quieter indoors, it’s worked very well for our family. Overall, it’s a decent choice for casual garden or indoor use, though not a replacement for a traditional basketball.

According to the Amazon page description, this ball should achieve 80% of the bounce of a normal basket ball. From my testing it is more like 20%. To get any real bounce you have to throw it at the floor, so you won’t get any dribbling skills from this. The Amazon pictures also do not show the Frankenstein like stitching that is used to hold the outer cover together. The ball is not a even roundness, I wouldn’t expect a foam ball to be a perfect sphere, but I think it could be better than this. The result of the uneven roundness is an unpredictable bounce. As a practice basketball it is not very good and you would be better to shop around. However, it has been good in our garden for shots on basket for the children. The reduced bounce off the backboard means they score a few more and if they miss, then the ball isn’t flying around the garden. The biggest bonus for me is that it cannot be punctured and go flat. I have a rather nasty hawthorn tree in my garden and despite my warnings to the children to keep away from the tree, its spikes have claimed the lives of many foot, rugby and basketballs.Being foam you will need to remember to keep it out of the rain.
