Had to go on a couple major trips this summer with one backpack compression strap broken. Glad that I found this single-piece replacement, so I never have to do so again. The original plastic buckles were two-piece, and did actually last quite a few years. The new Joyzol G-Hook Wave Buckles being stainless steel however, will last whatever life is left in my old pack, and fit on the 3/4-inch webbing perfectly with zero slippage. My only wish for the new buckles is that they were somehow less shiny. This is minor complaint, though, as I am very happy with everything else about the Joyzol product.

These hooks were perfect; used them on a plate carrier that I wanted to have a quicker disconnect and they worked like a charm. Good build and extra security with the spring latch. Easy to install and use. Have held up very well so far, happy with the order. Solid A+ grade!

These Joyzol Stainless Steel G-Hook Wave Buckles are definitely handy for salvaging your old webbing straps with broken fasteners. I actually have quite a few straps like that, as the spring-loaded thumb release on most of the straps of that type, is typically made out of pot metal which eventually breaks with much use, and subsequently no longer holds the spring in place, rendering the cinch-up capability of the strap useless. I never throw them away though, as the strap and hook can still be useful when tied. Still, being able to easily cinch the straps tight is what they were originally designed to do, so restoring that function is the far better solution and that's where these "G-Hooks" save the day!The main thing to understand is that these buckles are not going to hold nearly as tight, or even cinch-up as easily as the original spring-loaded fasteners did, but if you thread your webbing right you can get a pretty secure grab that won't slip. If you pass the webbing under and through the upper slot and then back through the lower slot, as they are really designed for, it is likely they'll slip pretty easily, which may be fine if the hold is not that critical. That said, and these G-Hooks do have a more aggressive wave shape bend which puts more pressure back on the strap and reduces slippage better than some of the other versions of this type of buckle and how much they slip also depends on the strap, as well.  If however, you need a more trustworthy hold, you'll want to thread the webbing a bit differently to get more friction. I've included several pics of how to thread the webbing through the buckle for a much more secure hold, although it is not as convenient to cinch-up. Still, if you need the strap to hold extra tight, you'll want to use the method I've depicted. If, on the other hand, the hold is not that critical, the method I initially described will cinch-up with a simple tug on the end of the strap.The wire spring gate is a nice plus for the most part, albeit a hassle at the same time, especially if you are needing to frequently hook and unhook your strap, as it doesn't really open all the way and there is even a potential for the hook to pierce the webbing strap when trying to get it out. Still, the gate will serve you well when it comes to using the tighter cinch-up method I've depicted, by closing that upper slot and keeping your webbing in place, particularly when it is loose. Plus, it will keep the buckle securely hooked to the opposing loop, if you are using it that way.In any case, these "G-Hooks" will do the job as long as you understand how to fasten them according to what's needed!

exactly as advertised. Buckles are nice and polished smooth no sharp edges. The spring gate has good tension on it not too much not too little. if you need a G buckle get these. They are a little shinier than i expected but not to a determent.
