I purchased a wood set so to keep my sanity.

Attractive, well built and felt safe for a child.Not "musical" in the sense that the bars do not create a series of consecutive notes so you can't play a known tune on them.

Toy is very good quality, but be aware that it comes in just a cardboard sleeve as the only packaging with all the normal Amazon labels on this sleeve. Mine was just left on the doorstep and thankfully it didn't rain. But I was disappointed with all the labels stuck on the sleeve as it was a present and I was worried taking off the labels would spoil the packaging.

If you want children to develop a musical ear, then let them play music. This so-called instrument just makes noise. It is out of tune and doesn't play a proper scale.
