This is one of the best souls-like games available. In fact, I enjoyed this much more than Dark Souls. It's been patched numerous times since release and is even better in 2025.

I have played several “souls” games over the years, some more successfully than others, including DS1-3, Demon Souls, Sekiro, Elden Ring, and the “lighter” Dragon’s Dogma 2 (which is harder if you leave the Pawns at home).The v1.5 patch for Lords of the Fallen finally tempted me to play it, and I have no regrets.Got stuck at the first boss, so rerolled as a different class and tried the “Game Modifiers” they added for a New Game + 0 option and it was brilliant. I turned on random loot drops and finally got a decent fire weapon and beat her. You can make the game harder, or easier, and restart any time with your current gear and levels.Since so few people were available to co-op and help me out, this fixed the problem.Now, I have figured out the dodge/block/parry mechanics and can fight the bosses solo or with the NPC helper.I am no spring chicken, play on XBox which lacks game “mods”, so my sluggish reflexes really appreciate this addition from the developers.Elden Ring was my favourite before this, now possibly tied for first place.
