I bought this kaiser lightbox as an alternative to my larger cheaper brandless one I had lying around and will mainly be using it for film scanning. My old one was collecting a lot of scratches so i figured it was time for an upgrade".I figured i'd buy this Kaiser one because its a brand that associated with photography so i figured they probably know what they are doing. According to Kaiser this lightbox should hit 95CRI, 5000k color temperature and have an output of 750cd/m2. Short and simple, it doesnt. None of the above.Because i use these things to scan negatives for clients I went all out nerd on it and measured the actual vallues with my Xrite i1 pro2. Its not bad, both CRI value (i measured around 92 instead of the advertised 95) and color temperature (i measured a consistent 5250 to 5255 in stead of the advertised 5000) are allmost on point and perfectly usefull for consistent results.The brightness is where its lacking though. I barely measured 615cd/m2 where, according to Kaiser, it should have 750cm/m2 when using the USB input with the lightbox set to USB mode. Annoyingly the brightness varies depending on the built in battery's charge. Even when the lightbox is set to USB mode and is being powered by a USB charger the battery still seems to influence the brightness even though it shouldnt.Is the lightbox usable? Yes, CRI and color temperature are fine. Brightness just means slightly longer exposure times. Is it worth 70+ euro's? No, my old lightbox was 25 euro's and performed allmost exactly the same.

A little expensive for what it is but it does the job!

Bauartbedingt keine Batterien sondern eingebauter Akku, dafür Netzbetrieb will man den schonen.Ist so hell, dass sie manchmal als Leuchte eingesetzt werden kann und flimmert nicht, was bei Foto- und Videoaufnahmen zu fiesen Effekten führen würde. Für den Preis wäre ein mitgegebenes Abdeck-Kit schön gewesen, wenn bei kleineren Durchsichtobjekten Streu- und Gegenlicht ausgeschlossen werden soll, kommt oft vor, braucht man, kostet extra, viel.Rein als Mini-Leuchttisch geht's auch ohne, ist dann aber trotz der robusten Qualität irgendwie überzahlt.

Ottimo prodotto azienda che sa' costruire attrezzatura. Ho deciso per questa tavoletta per sviluppo in digitale di negativi b/n analogici e devo dire son rimasto molto soddisfatto. Costruzione pur se in plastica di ottima fattura dimmerabile e con temperatura colore corretta. I vari modelli coprono ogni necessita' quindi personalmente non posso che raccomandarla.

Prior to this purchase I tried two other similar products: The Cricut Bright Pad, whose light had an odd yellowish cast, and the Gagne Porta-Trace, which had a zillion specs of dust between the LED lights and the clear top panel (a common issue, I would later learn from other reviews). Because I needed a light table primarily to view old negatives, neither the noticeable cast or dust were acceptable. But luckily, the third time was the charm and I am THRILLED with the Kaiser Slimlite. For starters, it's super-sleek and light (only about one-third of an inch thick). There's also no exterior housing to come loose or catch your clothing, as the entire tablet is a single fully bonded piece. It seems much more sturdy than the other brands I tried, which had a bit of "flex" between the panels and the frame. As a plus, the Kaiser also has a built-in lithium-ion battery so you can work even when an outlet isn't convenient. Finally, it's calibrated to produce light at a neutral temperature of 5000k, with even light across the entire surface (no "hot spots"). This makes a huge difference for photographic applications. It's very well suited to other applications as well, though — I've used it for tracing too and have found that on its brightest setting the light easily passes through two sheets of heavyweight paper. I try to write balanced reviews, but in this case I honestly can't think of a single negative. Even the price is excellent when you consider the quality and color calibration. As an aside, Adorama Camera provided excellent service too.

UK user, bought this to copy some old colour slides.Absolutely up to the job, featuring a high CRI and easy to experiment with by controlling a wide range of brightness. Can be used connected to the mains or with the internal battery.The surface finish is very smooth and needs no extra diffuser for close up macro work.It appears to be very well made, as expected from a German brand and although not the cheapest by far, I consider it excellent value for money.It is supplied with a European mains plug so will need an inexpensive UK adapter to use here.
