KAISH Bass Guitar String Tree Bass String Retainer met Mouting Schroeven Chrome

I'd always had troubles with the tone on my A string on my Squier P-bass, and when I replaced my neck with a Fender Mexican Standard one, I was determined to make that thing sound perfect. I figuerd the A string needed to have a proper break angle over the nut in order to correct it flubbiness. When I found this Kaish three-string tree, I figured this would solve it - and it did. The only problem I found was the flimsy screws - one snapped off while installing, thankfully I found a slightly thicker screw in my parts box.

My super cheap Ammoon J-Bass had a buzz at the nut when playing the A string open because there wasn’t enough of an angle from the nut to the tuning machine. Installation was very easy. I didn’t have to remove the strings. I used the hole from the original 2-string string tree for one of the screws so I only had to drill one hole. The screws appear to be the same size as the original string tree screw. Since there was only one screw holding down two strings originally, I’m pretty confident two screws holding down three strings will be fine. There are no sharp edges or obvious blemishes. The only thing I might change is to file off a little of the bottom of the “arm” that holds the A string. It’s a little bit too close to the headstock to allow the string to be easily slipped under from the side. You need to thread it through. That’s a minor issue, though, especially since you have to thread the D string through anyways.

… a pair of those huge Fender string buttons that you can retire or save for using them with older straps on seasoned bass 🎸 guitars. Drilling a couple of tiny holes is a small price to pay for better intonation and headstock string tension. Works for me! 😎
