Documentary about the legendary footballer George Best, directed by Daniel Gordon. From humble beginnings as a young boy in Belfast, Best rose to become one of the greatest footballers of his generation. While still in his early twenties, Best reached the milestones most footballers can only dream of, winning both the European Cup and the Ballon d'Or in 1968. Unfortunately, before long, he began falling from those lofty heights down to crushing lows. His alcoholism corrupted his immeasurable talents and eventually killed him. The full, moving tale is told through recordings of the man himself and first-hand accounts from those who knew him best: his family, his friends and fellow sportsmen.

I comment as a United fanatic, who was born in Lancashire and lived in Manchester throughout the Best era. I had the privilege of watching most of George's dazzling skills and magic including being at Wembley for the 1968 European Cup Final.Superbly presented and directed. Great interviews with the people who were close to George. A valued addition to my "United" library .The service from Amazon was efficient and professional. Thank you.Pat Bindon

George Best was my hero.I have all the books, VHS/videos and previous DVD's.I thought I had seen all the available footage about this superb footballer; I was wrong. This DVD is magnificent and, clearly a lot of thought has gone into the production - there are rare archive interviews with George, Mike Summerbee, Pat Crerand, Matt Busby and friends of George.I never tire of watching him grace the football arena; for me, he was the best footballer ever; the only person on a par would have been Johann Cruyff. One could argue that he has since been surpassed by Messi, Ronaldo etc. Yes, they are fabulous players, playing on "carpets", no-one is allowed to tackle them, and the balls are so hi tech that they can fly around like an exocet from a free kick.George had to contend with quagmires of pitches, week in week out, some of the toughest defenders who "took no prisoners": Hunter, Harris, Mackay, Simpson, Smith/Yeats and, George never shirked a challenge or dived like Tom Daley, unlike some of today's prima donas. This - along with the recent Brian Clough release - is the greatest football DVD I have ever seen and, it's much more than that with rare insights into his private life.Glorious stuff !

In my opinion, solid doc & kinda sad.Running time:90 mins approx. There are some ''Special Features'',but I haven't them watched yet.George Best was a fantastic talent.Arguably up there as one of the greatest football players who never played in a World Cup .Such a shame how the outcome(which ALL fans will know)finally plays out.Interesting to listen to some of the people who knew him, talk about him so fondly & sorta sadly.Recommended to any fan who knew about him,& maybe learn,a little more stuff, they didn't know about him.

This DVD was excellent and it was great to see George playing as there wasn’t a lot of his playing that was filmed in those days.
