I have a 7.2 pound 27in ViewSonic (VX2785-2K-MHDU) that I mounted with this arm. The monitor itself weighs very little and is very light considering its size. I was looking for something that would be able to hold much more in the future as I plan to keep this arm after putting it together. The stand officially supports 17.6 pounds (8kg) and up to 34 in monitor, which for me is a lot more that what I have.Kensington is well known for many laptop and desktop accessories I have used their stuff in the past and it has been good value.The cylindrical stand with clamp is the heaviest part, I was and am a bit concerned about it mounting to my standing desk which the tabletop is made of cheaper laminated MDF, so long as I am careful when I adjust the monitor angle and height I feel this will be acceptable but no fast moving for me. I would recommend a solid hardwood mounting surface but that's just me being nervous for a future heavier screen.I also would recommend padding to put between the mounting surface and clamp, some kind of thin rubber would be best to prevent scratches. The arm assembles fine but the instructions are just ok yes there are pictures which are helpful but could be confusing for the majority of non technical people.As a veteran from the trenches of I.T with countless instruction-less battles fighting with printer toner, re-soldering exploded capacitors and using tiny screwdrivers for purposes not intended, I had little trouble in terms of deciphering the hieroglyphs but I can see how anyone else might get really frustrated with it. One helpful thing was the bags containing screws and parts are separated and at least the screws are labelled, everything else is in individual ziplock bags which also helped to keep parts mixing to a minimum.Once assembled I was impressed how compact it can be and it saved a ton of desk space which is very noticeable and the main reason I got it apart from having far more adjustment range than the crappy stands that most cheap monitors have (my factory one was not so bad but lacks height adjustment and took up too much space). This thing is reasonably priced and does the job when most other stands are over 100 dollars this is very good value. Sure you don't get gas springs or whatever but I don't need fancy stuff.
