But then I read that some reviewers had found their puzzles had missing pieces, and the last thing I’d want to do is gift it to someone, only have their fun ruined when they couldn’t complete it. So, I opened each and every one of the 24 boxes and counted the pieces. I am happy to report that they all contained 42 pieces. You’ll need good lighting to complete this puzzle as some areas are quite dark and it’s difficult to differentiate between the pieces – it helps that they have the box number on the back, e..g., all the pieces from box 1 have the number 1 on the back. And, on the back of the accompanying full-size poster of the puzzle, there is a map with an outline of each of the 1,008 pieces and their box number. That also makes it easy to return them to the correct box for next year. It’s a big puzzle but completing it in bite sized pieces makes it easier – or, alternatively, be a glutton and mix all 1,008 pieces up and binge. Before handing the puzzle over to the lucky recipient, I'll add a small Christmas chocolate treat to each of the boxes just like an advent calendar. The current price is £18.99, seems fair.
