Price when reviewed: £ 13.99 for 55mm filter.Polarizing filters let you control reflective surfaces when taking photos. This type of filter has 2 layers, a fixed back element and a rotating front element. Polarizing filters can reduce the amount of light passing through it, so best to use in daylight.I have tested this filter with a camera and a shallow bird bath in the garden. The two photos show the amount of control I was able to get in this simple test, with one photo showing the bottom of the bird bath as if the water didn’t exist and the second photo showing a reflection of the garden plants opposite. The quality of the glass in this filter appears to be very good as there is no distortion in my photos. I like that you also get a lens cap as the original cap that came with the camera doesn’t fit with this filter attached. The lens cap retaining strap slips off a bit too easily so I’m using another one I have.Overall, I am really pleased with the quality of this circular polarizing filter.

I'm a beginner, so this is the first filter I've ever bought but so far it works really great! I was worried it was really gonna be visible around the edges since that seems to be a well-known problem for my camcorder (FDR-AX43A), but it's been just fine. It's super slim and fairly easy to take off too.At first I didn't read the instructions or anything so I went ahead and tried to remove it by turning the base ring, and that didn't go to well. I ended up using a rubber band to turn it. I did another test run to see if I could just leave it a little loose so that I don't have to go through all of that again, but then I realized that the outer ring was changing the pressure... The entire process was a waste of time when it was already made easy for me right there. I had to clean off a little bit of the skin that got shredded off my finger tips, but at least I figured it out.9.2/10 for me. Would be a 10/10 if the lens cap went in easier or made a clicking sound of some sort, but I'm still not sure if they usually do or not.Update* I thought it was my display resolution at first, but when I started transfering the pictures to my phone I noticed that the image quality does seem decrease a bit when the filter is on compared to when it's off. Took a star off for now but luckily I have a step up ring arriving soon for some bigger filters I had bought which I hope will be clearer

I take a lot of landscape and animal photography. One thing always present in those pictures are, the open sky and a possible water source. I wanted to test a new CPL filter and see how it fared. Truthfully, I couldn’t tell much difference between my previous one and this one, probably because they may be in the same quality and price range. I am sure someone with extremely keen eyesight will be able to pick up the issues, but that eyesight has not blessed me.As for the filter, it does as advertised, it reduces the glare from the water, and makes the sky’s colour more acceptable. Ofcourse, I still go one stop to the left when the sun, and all the glares are at its highest, as my highlights were still blowing out, but then again this is not an ND filter. This is a fine filter in my opinion.

I didn't notice too much reduction in image quality, and even if there was, the effect of the filter makes up for it. I'm pleased with this filter.
