I have just acquired an induction hob which is very good news apart from the fact that one or two of my very useful pans won't work on it as they don't have a magnetic base - e.g. my precious preserving pan which is large with a heavy base and completely invaluable for jam-making etc. It would be extremely expensive to replace and a waste as there's nothing wrong with it, so this diffuser/converter is the answer - a solid round piece of metal with a handle that sits on the induction hob and your pan goes on top of it. Works a treat! The handle does not get hot but the metal disc transfers the heat from the hob to the pan above just as if it was a regular hob. A simple solution to a potentially expensive problem. Yes, the converter probably will discolour over time as a result of sitting on direct heat but I really don't think that's an issue. Excellent.
