So I use these on all sorts of cables so it's not surprising I ended up snapping the top blade! I was a bit worried this meant buying a new tool, but luckily found these replacement blades. They're great, very quick to change, there's not much info on the product page or about at all online so I've included some images from the instructions that come with. As my top blade snapped off, I just used a standard pin to get the half that was snapped off out. If you're doing the swap maybe just take a photo of the tool before you pop the insides out so you remember how it goes back together, but for me it was a 5 minute job.

For the past few years I have mostly used the Knipex model 12 62 180 wire insulation stripper.The tool is effective for wire guages between 24-10 AWG although my main requirements are stripping insulation on AC mains wiring along with general 'hook up wire'.I like the convenience of the tool as I can strip forward facing wires in a junction box which is almost impossible to do with other types of insulation strippers particularly where working space may be restricted.As the shearing blades of the stripping tool had become dull over time I recently thought it was time to try and obtain a set of new ones.Fortunately Amazon advertises various Knipex tools and amongst them replacement parts such as the 12 69 21 blade set.After placing an order for the genuine Knipex blades I only had to wait perhaps 8 days for the blade set to arrive at my address from Germany.When I had a moment I read the instructions supplied with the new blades and then proceeded to remove the original ones from the wire insulation stripper which was fairly easy to do although the upper shearing blades were tougher to pull out even with pliers.Eventually I fitted the new replacement blades as per the instructions and gave the tool a test by stripping the insulation off a few different guages of wire with results that left a bit to be desired.However, I soon saw the reason for this and that was I'd inserted the upper blade back to front.After pulling the blade out, once again with pliers, I reinserted the blade correctly and found that the stripping action was close to excellent and therefore I was pleased with the outcome.I recommend the Knipex 12 62 180 wire insulation stripping tool used with original 12 69 21 upper and lower shearing blades all available on Amazon.
