The number 13 is a wonderful brush, perfect for line work.

筆ペンの良いところは、紙はティッシュペーパーにでも文字が書ける点ですね。いつも万年筆、ボールペン、シャープペンシルと筆ペンを胸ポケットにさして仕事しています。

Kuretake is well known for the quality of their brush pens. While polyester bristles are the best for fidelity or smoothness, they are more durable and easier to maintain than sable hair. Ink reservoirs are easy to replace and the ink flows relatively freely. While it comes down to opinion, I think Kuretake has consistently produced great brush pens over the years and their brand deserves all the praise it gets. I do think this brush pen in particular is overpriced at 34 dollars considering I bought a much more premium feeling sable hair brush pens from for for only 6 more dollars. I'd rate 5 stars if it weren't for the price. Regardless, it's a great brush pen from a great company.

I have heard good things about Kuretake's brush pens for a while, so I was eager to try this pen out. The packaging was really nice and the ink is unopened until you put it into the pen to prevent any drying. The bristles were all straight, and the pen draws very smoothly, allowing both thin delicate lines and thick bold strokes. Definitely feels like a step up from super cheap brush pens, but it will dry out quickly if you are using it. This pen does not come with any refills, so if you plan on using it frequently it might be smart to buy extra ink refills as well. Other than that, I am very pleased with this pen

Things I like about this pen:- Feels sturdily made- Ink flows smoothly- Varies line thickness easily--from super thin to large swaths of ink on the page, depending on the brush tip angle- The brush retains its tip easily while at rest, which is a sign of a good brush- The pen doesn't leak when it's not in use- Waterproof ink! Great for line drawing and adding watercolors- Kuretake makes pretty inexpensive refills for the inkThings to watch out for:- The brush is extremely sensitive to pressure and hand movement--far more so than with, say, Zebra waterproof ink pens. Get used to finely tuning your line work- Sometimes when I pressed hard and moved too quickly, the ink dry-brushed toothy watercolor paper. I could go over those lines pretty easily, but just know it's a textural effect that's possible with this penIf you like combining ink drawings and watercolor, or want to do cartooning work, this is a really well crafted ink pen that may have you rethinking the possibilities of your line work and brush strokes.
