I'll not repeat much about the pen's design and history, there are extensive reviews elsewhere online. Instead, a few random jottings.* this is a very practical fountain pen: the fibreglass finish, sprung clip and large ink reservoir make for a no fuss everyday writing experience. There's no reason why a pen like this shouldn't be usable for decades.* it's a pen which combines a number of interesting/desirable features in one fountain pen at a reasonable price. Hooded or gold nibs and piston filling are characteristics found usually in pricier pens and the Lamy 2000 combines all three.* it's much less likely than some other good quality fountain pens to be stolen since, capped and left unattended on a work desk, it could pass for some run of the mill biro or rollerball* the Fine nib comes up broader then typical, and would easily suit someone looking for a Medium on other pens. It is finer than a TWSBI 540 M or a Pelikan M200 M however. It has some springiness and allows for some lovely line variation, say less then the Noodlers Konrad's flex but much more than a nail like the TWSBI 540.* Cost varies a lot from full retail at £175 to sub-£100 if you manage to hit the right offer. WHSmiths have it at less than £100 at times, but rarely in stock. I bought mine from Amazon for under £100 and felt I'd done well. The quid pro quo is that you don't get the full Lamy packaging, so depending on the circumstances it might not be suitable as a gift. I flushed the pen before use and there was the mearest whisper of blue ink, this is from the factory testing and is not an indication that the pen is used. I think £175 is a little overpriced, but anywhere under a £100 seems good value for this piece of elegant and functional design history.

50 anni e non sentirli affatto. Progettata mezzo secolo fa da Gerd Müller , erede delle tradizioni del Bauhaus, la versione sintetica di questa penna perfetta e' un classico non solo tra gli oggetti da scrittura ma del moderno design , se non dell'arte moderna (e come tale esposta al MOMA). Ho avuto con grande soddisfazione 4 di queste fantastiche penne stilografiche e non posso che dirne bene, affidabili, belle, senza tempo, non sono pretenziose e si nascondono tra ben piu' umili biro senza tradire il loro blasone, e utilitaristicamente parlando non sbaglieranno un colpo, dategli inchiostro e scriveranno anche se lasciate col cappuccio aperto per mezze ore. Ingannevolmente minimalista e lineare questa icona nasconde un disegno raffinatissimo ed un acuto gioco di lucido e satinato, con il contrasto con la clip sul cappuccio lucidata ed il corpo della penna piacevolmente satinato. Questa versione inox sorprende per il suo peso, davvero un peso massimo tra le penne di pregio, che pero' grazie al baricentro bilanciatissimo riesce piacevole e non stanca affatto (penne piu' leggere in metallo stancano di piu', ed io scrivo col cappuccio applicato in fondo al cannotto, sempre).Il funzionamento a stantuffo (tipo Pelikan di pregio, non ha cartucce intercambiabili) e' perfetto, il pennino semi-nascosto non fa fare sporco in giro quando ricaricate dal calamaio e la scorta di inchiostro sembra durare quanto dura una biro... Il pennino d'oro rodiato e' quasi invisibile e scrive molto bene in tutti i formati (li ho avuti tutti credo ed attualmente ho S, M e OM obliquo medio). Se vogliamo trovare un problema, richiede una impugnatura precisa perche' il punto magico che scrive perfetto appare molto selettivo e non tollera la penna leggermente ruotata sul suo asse a destra o a sinistra, il pennino deve poggiare bene parallelo alla carta e scrivere con l'obliquo puo' essere difficile per chi non e' pratico. Basta scegliersi un pennino dritto se non si e' gia' addentro.Nel complesso la Lamy 2000 M inox ha veramente una presenza, una sostanza ed una finitura superiori, piu' prossima ad un oggetto di gioielleria che ad un utensile da scrittura, e regala un'intensa soddisfazione nell'uso. I punti dove le varie parti del cannotto, della sezione e il fondello rotante (che comanda lo stantuffo interno e consente di ricaricare l'inchiostro nella penna) si incontrano sono talmente bene accoppiati che un profano non riesce a notarli se non esaminando la penna da vicino. E talvolta neanche allora.Devono chiaramente piacere le penne pesanti perche' altrimenti meglio rivolgersi alla versione nera in Makrolon che scrive altrettanto bene, costa meno ed ha un peso praticamente ideale per ogni gusto, oltre ad una sottilissima spia trasparente (ricavata rendendo trasparente una piccolissima parte del corpo stesso in Makrolon nero della penna) che manca completamente in questa versione M in acciaio (almeno finche' qualcuno non inventera' come rendere trasparente l'acciaio inossidabile..).

The ultimate pen, the Lamy 2000 is obviously a statement of status. I have worked with the medium and fine nibbed variants. Both were the best writing experience I’ve had. Balanced weight unless you post the cap. Pair with an ink thirsty vellum and a quality ink to leave an impression.Note: they do not take a fall well. Keep somewhere safe l, maybe not a briefcase :)

Le Lamy 2000, je le regarde, le trouve moche et ferme la page, puis je m’intéresse à son histoire, je le re-regarde, je me renseigne sur ses qualité, je l'achète....Et là, la révélation, je pensais que la matière n'allait pas me plaire mais elle est parfaite; pour ceux qui veulent avoir une idée, cela me fait penser au toucher qu'on aurait avec du bois.La prise en main est exceptionnelle, j'ai de très petites mains mais cela n'est pas gênant du tout, en fait on ne le sent pas et on peut positionner ses doigts comme on le désire puisque sa forme le permet.Le look est mortel, intriguant au début, mais tellement unique.L'écriture, mon dieu... je n'arrive pas à définir la plume, pas la souplesse de mon Pelikan, si on appuie on peut ressentir qu'elle n'est pas raide, mais c'est ça le truc en fait, c'est que ce stylo glisse comme si on écrivait sur une vitre ou un miroir, donc pas besoin d'appuyer, l'encre est là, infaillible.Certains avis parlent de cette intolérance à la rotation de la plume mais honnêtement, je n'ai eu aucun ratés et en faisant quelques tests je ne suis pas tout à fait d'accord, je le trouve dans la moyenne, avant de perdre le fil de l'encre, il faut vraiment le vouloir et incliner beaucoup la plume.Mon Lamy qui a la chaleur du toucher du bois et la glisse d'une plume sur du verre...
