It's just a pen. I've used cheaper pens with better ink and more expensive ones with worse ink. A little scribble in the corner of the page can fix most issues. I really love the look of this pen; it sits comfortably in my hand, and the clip is nice and sturdy. I have confidence that it will stand the test of time. I can't say anything negative about this pen. If you want to spend money on a nice pen that you can be proud of, I’d recommend one of these as it’s well-built uses sturdy materials, and just does the job.

This is a great fountain pen and even survived me running over it with my car. A similar pen is the Waterman Kulture, but my Lamy does a slightly better job of not drying out; probably because of the gasket included. The Kultur has a spring loaded clip which is nice but this Lamy's clip works and seems to have a bit more design flare.

Writes smoothly, new cartridges are on Amazon, and is well-built. Don't think the plastic body is cheap. It is made from ABS plastic, the same material that LEGO bricks are made from. If you want a metal body, the same design is available as the Al-Star.
