Its true utility, however, may be as a great & easy way to open that stubborn jar or other container. It has held up extremely well & is very sturdy. The ribbed texture makes it so useful. It is a very thick rubber & actually is worth the price. Still looks new despite almost daily use.Update 2012: Still looks new. Great, versatile, kitchen item. Worth the cost.
