I've been using Victorinox multitools for all of my life, but for a very long time I've wanted a Leatherman for the pliers and I finally decided to believe the hype and order one. What greeted me out of the box was an over-oiled, scratched up hunk of junk that I had to clean with alcohol for about 10 minutes just so I wouldn't smear black grease on every surface the tool made contact with.Only to find out that the handles are very scratched up, and to some degree so were the blades. It's clear that I was sold a used product for the price of a brand new one. Either Leatherman or Amazon have extremely poor quality control when it comes to the multitools they're sending out. With the staggering number of reviews complaining about the same issue, you'd think Leatherman would at least try to get in touch with Amazon to figure out why they keep sending out damaged tools! It's not like Amazon is some third party salesman, it's the biggest online retailer out there! The standard blade was also not very sharp, barely able to cut paper if I applied some force.What confuses me is the excessive amount of oil or grease used to lubricate the joints, which leaked all over the handles, pliers and tools themselves and created a pretty thick coat. From the wear on the handles, the tool is clearly used. So either the tool got returned to Amazon and then possibly to Leatherman, where they just oiled it up a bit and sent it back to Amazon as brand new, or Amazon tried to refurbish it in-house before trying to pass it off as new. I'm not sure which of these is more likely. Probably the former.I am extremely disappointed and I have already filled out the return form. I am not sure if I'll ever try Leatherman again when I've never had a single negative experience with over 5 Victorinox brand swiss army knives.

High quality product, works as intended. Tools are sharp and crisp. Well finished. Would recommend.

being a leatherman theres not much to say about it. really sturdy and reliable and sturdy. have used it for more than a year has given no problems. the matte black edition looks super amazing compared to its stainless siblings but is prone to visible scratches
