I thought 3 watts might be too small to provide ample lighting, but I was wrong. These lights are very bright and the beam angle is very narrow and focused. The light bulb is so bright that it was distracting and annoying. I could have mounted it behind my head to alleviate the problem, but it wasn't practical for my application. I solved the problem by adding a small shade using a plastic bottle cap. I cut out the top of the cap and used electrical tape to assure a snug fit. The glare from inside the shiny cap was still annoying, so I sanded the inside of the cap to get a dull finish. It now is the perfect bright reading lamp and no annoying glare.The wiring was so easy that I temporarily wired it to a plug wire to find the best position before I made it permanent.
