I played vandoren v12 for years and loved them. Started having ongoing reed issues a few years ago, and spent so much money experimenting on different strength reeds, the v21 & rue Lepic reeds... a new mouthpiece, a new ligature - anything that might be the variable that was REALLY negatively affecting both my playing AND my love for my instrument ...I was INCREDIBLY frustrated/disheartened.Last summer someone suggested I try Legere reeds, but being a purist I thought there was no possible way that they could compare to a cane Reed, and I didn’t want to spend so much just to try it out when I was pretty sure I wouldn’t like them.Fast forward a year, and in desperation I finally just bit the bullet and ordered a 3 3/4 legere. Well, color me surprised, because from the very first note I played with the legere reed I was SHOCKED at the responsivity, depth, richness of tone... the legere reed made a *huge* difference in the tone quality and intonation in the finicky range of my 70 year old Buffet...I honestly thought there was no way I’d play on a plastic reed - ever - but I am seriously impressed. No more rummaging around trying 15 different reeds or having to swap out my reed multiple times during rehearsals in hopes that the next one would be more cooperative. I’ve spent a lot more time practicing and a lot less time muttering swear words under my breath.Sorry, Vandoren. I thought we’d be together forever, but I’m breaking up with you.

Signature European 3.75 (old model) and European 3.75 are exactly the same. I purchased these two reeds 5 yrs apart (2019 & 2024). They are wider than cane, shorter than cane and play consistent and easily. They have a little lighter feel than 3.5. Now that Ive been playing for 5years this is a great reed I can control without biting. Im using these reeds in a pit orchestra. It does like to warm up a few minutes before I get my best feel. All ranges are supported like a hard reed but blows freely like a soft reed. Its quite enjoyable actually! As for intonation of all reeds ... I won't comment. B/c without of secure embouchure, proper tongue position and airstream, its hard to tell. I find many variances between all my cane reeds. I'm playing this on an M13 lyre profile 88. Happy experimenting! Playing is a freedom and a joy!!Now as for NEW/Used - this box was definitely opened and tried by someone else. There is a very superficial scratch/mark on top. I WASHED WITH SOAP AND WATER like anything you buy from a store that is going to go into your mouth. I tested it, it played perfectly, Im keeping it. I bought it from Legere on Amazon in case i wanted to send it back free ship. Thats what i get. An opened product that still works perfect. Im okay with this.

I probably have a typical musician's over abundance of cane reeds for woodwinds. After comparing many Legere strengths with similar cane strengths, the conclusion is stop wasting time when I can just grab a reliable synthetic reed and practice, practice, practice. A can still chip away on the "Honeydew List" and performances. I don't know if any of this will be posted but I am pleased and happy with listeners auspicious response. The Legere really helps my warm ups of chromatic scale from chalumeau (with thumb), and continue up (without thumb). Really great that this is easier on a Legere reed than a cane. Great Things In Life!
