ADDENDUM: The device didn't last 2 days, basically the lower button is no longer working making the device unusable. Returned for refund.-----------------------I'm still trying to understand what can be the real purpose of this device, it does the job but it is so badly documented that it is causing more confusion than anything else. In fact the device is well built, good casing and an e-paper display that allegedly should make the battery last longer than an LCD display however the battery is so undersized (800mA) that it won't last that long anyways.The producer website is proposing 3 different firmware, Meshtastic, SoftRF and LilyGo Stock without explaining the differences between them causing the real confusion.When you try to use it with Meshtastic the display is basically useless because the settings and functionalities are requiring a cellphone, either Android or iPhone, with a dedicated (free) app hence you won't have any kind of useful information on the device itself.I tried both the other two firmware, LilyGo Stock and SoftRF and I could not find any purpose or joy in using them.The thermometer and the hygrometer embedded are just a joke because the values will be for the device and not for the environment so don't spend extra money for those, which are also using more of the battery making the lifespan shorter.Would I recommend? Not really unless you see a purpose for it, if you want to experiment then buy a T-Beam version with GPS integration for half of the price.

Ich habe das LILYGO T-Echo LoRa SX1262 nun einige Zeit im Einsatz und bin insgesamt sehr zufrieden, besonders für Einsteiger ist es eine gute Wahl.✔ Einfache Einrichtung: Das Gerät ist leicht in Betrieb zu nehmen, besonders mit Meshtastic. Anfänger sollten sich jedoch etwas mit den Grundlagen von LoRa und der entsprechenden Software vertraut machen.✔ GPS funktioniert einwandfrei: Die Positionsbestimmung ist präzise und die Verbindung stabil. Ideal für Projekte, die auf eine zuverlässige Standorterfassung angewiesen sind.✔ Akku erweiterbar: Ein tolles Feature ist die Möglichkeit, den Akku problemlos gegen einen größeren auszutauschen, um die Laufzeit erheblich zu verlängern. Perfekt für den Outdoor-Einsatz oder längere Einsätze ohne direkte Lademöglichkeit.✖ Antenne sollte ersetzt werden: Die mitgelieferte Multiband-Antenne ist zwar praktisch, aber für eine bessere Leistung empfiehlt sich eine hochwertigere LoRa-Antenne.Fazit:Ein super Gerät für alle, die in die Welt von LoRa und Meshtastic einsteigen möchten. Ein paar kleinere Upgrades (Antenne, Akku) machen es noch leistungsfähiger!

Even without replacing the aerial (but we all do) this is the only Ready-To-Use out of the box solution for Meshtastic. Extra efficient with battery life too

I am a Ham (Extra Class), have an MSCS, worked in high tech, and LOVE thislittle device! If you enjoy cool new technology, then YOU will love it too - no matter what level you are at.Opened the box and found NO manual, but, on the small, high-contrast, 1.54" persistent black on white screen was "meshtastic.org". I visited the site and found a whole new world out there with amazing people and hardware that I previously did not know about. You should _not_ expect to just charge it up and start calling friends thousands of miles away, but you _can_ expect to have great fun while learning about "mesh" 2024 style. On YouTube, there are >= 2 excellent videos, created by some of my favorite Ham Radio YouTubers, devoted to emerging mesh technology and this _specific_ device.My rating of 5 Stars is because it is a powerful and relatively inexpensive way to dive into an amazing, state-of-the-art technology.BTW: One does NOT need to hold a Ham Radio license, or be an MSEE to work with mesh, BUT, if you are a Ham, you will have even more fun, and might remember APRS. I look forward to have fun working through this with a 16 year old friend who will have a great time - perhaps setting up a system for covertly messaging friends at school, or collecting qand disseminating weather data, or designing a neighborhood security system or...Enjoy!

Nice form factor and good rx/tx. I really dislike the buttons though. They are too easy to press by mistake or in a backpack/pocket. The buttons should be recessed and not protrude outside the case side.
