Prachtige IEM’s. Echt top combi! Aanrader!

When I saw fellow Head-Fier Del’s scathing review of these, I knew I had to try them for myself. I too am a fan of bone conduction IEMs and have a fair share in my collection. I can’t agree this is the worst implementation of bone conduction I’ve heard, but it just may be the weirdest. You can tell there’s a literal spring in this IEM by just tapping it while it’s in your ear but not actively playing sound, which causes an amusing “sproing” noise.I also don’t agree that the tonality of this is generally bad. If anything, it feels like an upgraded version of the Cadenza, Kiwi Ears’ delicate-sounding budget IEM which I like very much and have given as a gift to several friends. When you take the “vibration transducer” out of the equation, the tonality is good and the overall technicalities are decent. However, this isn’t why you’re buying this IEM, and it wouldn’t be worth the money.I pretty frequently see people say or write things like “I don’t know if I can hear the bone conduction” or “I am not sure exactly what the bone conduction is doing.” In most implementations, the effect is subtle and tasteful. Not here. You’ll know right away that something wacky is going on in these IEMs. Synthesized samples snap satisfyingly, string plucks vibrate above the mix, and drum hits resonate for much longer than they should. It doesn’t sound natural and it can be distracting from the rest of the music, but with the right album synergy, it can be a ton of fun. The theme from Jerry Goldsmith’s Gremlins, for example, is an absolute trip on these. So, I am going to recommend this set with reservations. If you are looking for your first IEM or a versatile daily driver, this isn’t for you. Get the Kiwi Ears Aether instead for just $35 more, and you’ll have one of the most detailed and well-rounded planars in the price bracket. This is for you if you already have a substantial IEM collection and you are looking for a nifty gimmick, something to add some spice to boring mixes, or something to pull out now and then for a good laugh. Personally, I enjoy it a lot.

This will be a different review. These are so incredibly fun. A little background, though. I own multiple kilobuck iems and others. This is the MOST FUN bone conduction implementation I’ve heard and the first. Audible resonance like a tom drum bouncing in your ear with a funny decay when you pause or the music has a break. This has a really fun sound signature. Funny upper mids and funny sub bass. Maybe that’s expected in this price range but I’ve also heard other very good and inexpensive sets.I don’t usually write reviews but please just buy a Kiwi Ears Étude or some other cheap well-reviewed set in this price range.P.S.: If you want a well written review, just read the review from J. Eric Dietrich!

For the price, these are excellent. I do wish that they included better eartips and a better cable. But, that would most likely increase the price. Comfort is very good. Sound signature is neutralish with a slight bass boost. But the big difference is the bone conduction drivers. They seem to be implemented well. One thing I will say is that if you are a person that prefers a strictly a vocal forward sound signature...these aren't for you. If you like balanced signatures with a little extra rumble, these are for you. You can't really fault them at the price they are selling at.

These are so incredibly bad. A little background, though. I own multiple IEMs from Elysian, ziigaat, flipears, and others. This is the WORST bone conduction implementation I’ve heard. Audible resonance like a tom drum bouncing in your ear with a weird decay when you pause or music has a break. This has a really weird sound signature if you disregard that, anyway. Glaring upper mids, not great or well-separated sub bass. Maybe that’s expected in this price range but I’ve also heard other good and inexpensive sets.I don’t usually write reviews but please just buy a Meze Alba or some other cheap well-reviewed set in this price range.

The Kiwi Ears Étude sits in that interesting sweet spot between fun experiment and surprisingly capable daily driver. These aren’t your typical "slam you in the face" IEMs — they lean warm, with a tasteful touch of sparkle up top. It’s a cozy listen out of the box, but with some PEQ tweaking (especially in UAPP), they can really start to emulate that sweet, analog warmth that vinyl heads like me chase.Genre-wise? Throw whatever you want at them. They’re genre-agnostic in the best way — assuming you’re feeding them decent files. Give them a high-quality source and they reward you with a wide soundstage and pinpoint imaging. Seriously, it’s like your own private venue. That vibrating driver? It gives guitar tones this rich, fuzzy glow that’s kind of addictive.Physically, these things are featherweight and deceptively comfy for their size. I can run long listening sessions — hours deep — without any pressure fatigue, which says a lot. Kiwi Ears nailed the ergonomics here. Now, are these endgame? Not even close. But they’re not pretending to be. They’re a great pick for anyone wanting to dive into alternative driver tech or just try something off the beaten path. For me, they’ve earned a spot in the rotation alongside my Mangird Tea Pros. And that’s not nothing.Bottom line: If you’re a curious listener or just want a fun, well-tuned IEM with a unique flavor, the Étude delivers. Not perfect — but perfectly worth your time.
