My 9 year old daughter with a short attention span has been playing piano for a few years but doesn’t like practicing because she wants to PLAY songs instead of just doing drills. She has enjoyed this book, and the sheet music is simple enough for her to figure out on her own.

Really good book to learn piano for a 7 year old

I'm only recently returned to playing the keyboard and found this book perfect! I'm sure it's equally accessible for kids and other beginners too.The things I loved about Aria Altmann's book include the song choices (there are 55 to choose from) and how easy the sheet music is to follow. It's a full A4-sized book with very-easy to read and follow sheet music. It's beautifully presented in a full colour cover that catches the eye right away. It smacks of a quality not seen in lesser music books.The choice of songs provide plenty of variety and is perfect for those starting out, the song selection helping me feel more competent as I made my way through the tunes. I still have a long way to go but am confident this book will help me get there.Speaking of song choice, the songs cover Christmas favourites (The First Noel) to children's gems (Pat-A-Cake), from easy classical (Swan Lake) to hymns (Amazing Grace). No child is getting bored with this selection in a hurry. No adult either, for that matter (I'm still working through 'Greensleeves').You can also download the audio files which is a real bonus to make sure you've got it right. They help train you as you learn the songs. This is a really helpful feature you don't see with other books.If you're looking for an excellent music book that will not only be enjoyed but will help develop those piano skills, you can't do much better than this book. Highly recommended!
