Zunächst hatte ich einen anderen, preisgünstigeren Passepartout-Schneider aus einem durchsichtigen Kunststoff bestellt. Leider mit so frustrierenden Ergebnissen, dass ich ihn zurückgeschickt habe. Da ich viele unterschiedlich große Passepartouts schneiden wollte, versuchte ich in einem zweiten Anlauf mein Glück mit diesem Schneider von Logan. Endlich mit Erfolg!Das Metall macht das Gerät wesentlich stabiler und lässt es, zusammen mit den abgerundeten Kanten gut über den Passepartout-Karton gleiten.Sehr hilfreich ist die Markierung, die anzeigt, wo der Schnitt beginnt, da man ja nicht sehen kann, wo das Messer in den Karton eintritt. So erhält man saubere Ecken und vermeidet, zu weit zu schneiden.Ein weiterer wichtiger Vorteil ist, dass man die Schnitt-Tiefe einstellen kann entsprechend der Karton-Stärke.Man muss nach wie vor Druck ausüben und dabei darauf achten, das Führungslineal nicht zu verschieben. Aber das Schnittergebnis ist wirklich sauber und akkurat. Von daher nur zu empfehlen!

In the past I have tried cutting bevel edges in mounts using sharp Stanley knives, scalpels, etc. But never succeeded in getting perfect results. Wasted lots of card, risked cutting fingers, and after spending lots of time was never happy with the mount. So I decided to get a proper mount cutter. Reviews led me to this Logan Mount Cutter as being the best value for money. It is much more expensive than a few Stanley blades but everyone seemed to suggest this was the only way to make professional looking mounts.It arrived. I made a mount to test it, not bothering to be particularly careful. It was perfect. This little device is easy to use, safe (the blade is kept concealed and only emerges a few mm into the card when you press on the plastic handle) and it cuts through the card without effort.It is supplied with a few spare blades. I don't know how long each blade will last, but I've made a dozen mounts and the first blade seems just as sharp as when I started.Comparing the price of blank card with ready cut mounts, I am saving a few pounds per picture by cutting my own; so this Cutter might even pay for itself soon.A few tips:A small screwdriver is used to adjust the depth of the cut; set it so the blade only just goes through the mount card you are using. You will also need a sheet of scrap card (I used hardboard) underneath as a cutting table. On the back of the mount you draw pencil lines where you want to cut. Clamp a straight edge up to the line, and then just run the Logan Cutter along the straight edge.I used a metal straight edge and a pair of quick release clamps to hold everything tight to the table top. Using this arrangement there is no limit to the size of mount you could cut; small or large.A great little gadget that I recommend.

Muy complicado su uso. Incluso siguiendo las instrucciones, prácticamente imposible sacar un corte limpio y recto. Producto devuelto.

Love this thing. Works really well. Took me a few tries to get it right, but this works great. Read instruction carefully and you should have no problem. Make sure the mat is upside down so you the slanted mat cut on the right side. Learned the hard way. Glad my mat was white so it did not make a big difference. For the price this is perfect!!! Thank you !

È un ottimo strumento! Non professionale ma molto funzionale e pratico!! L’unica perplessità: se le lame in dotazione avessero due lati taglienti, potrebbero essere utilizzate il doppio delle volte semplicemente girando la lama quando un lato si consuma un po’.
