Let me tell you why I got these new ones first. There's a bit of a backstory. I have an (just one) older LogiLink UA0107 and I have a few disks I use with it. It has a miserable design for swapping disks. Tiny screws holding on to plastic, is a recipe for disaster. The screws finally ate all material to hold onto so it's no longer "safe" and the part that attach to the SATA disk is now just hanging loose, flapping about. Anyway, as for the functionality of the old one, it was great. It still works with the caveats I mentioned. I formated a couple of drives (precisely four) using my NAS using EXT4 (only other option is FAT32, which would be rather stupid for 4 TB drives).Then I receive the LogiLink UA0276. I thought, easy peasy, release the drive from darkness and pain, plug it into the new enclosure, and... nothing. EXT4 is I guess not supported by the enclosure, so now I have to upload via the old UA0107 to my NAS, remove the disk from the old enclosure, place it in it's new home, delete the partitions, format it (and use GPT, not MBR!) to NTFS, plug the drive into the NAS, then I can save the data back to the drive. It's just such a messy procedure.I don't have a linux box, but I kind of expected that the USB enclosure, at the very least, would have the same capabilities as the old. But you know what they say about assumptions.Now it is indeed made of cheap plastic, the on off switch is more flimsy than it looks on the graphics, but I actually really like it. Disk is easily installed. And in my case it's just to hold backups of pretty safe data already. I'm not going to throw it around, it's stored in bubblewrap and a plastic bag and for this purpose it appears as an OK solution. A bit stupid with the limited capability with a widely used filesystem, but whatever. It says on the box that it works with many versions of windows, and as far as that goes it appears to be true. I was just surprised.This hassle with the transfer of data is fortunately limited to four 4TB drives. But each drive needs a upload-download-time of 12 hours... so yes, it's not negligable.This hardware filesystem limitation takes it from four stars to three.
