Lucky Reptile Thermo Socket + Reflector Mini, reflectorlamp met porseleinen fitting

This is a tale of two halves. I have been using one of these above my turtle tank in the living room continuously for 3 years and am very pleased with it. The extra deep shade prevents us getting an eyeful of UVB when sitting on the sofa (there's a combined heat/UVB bulb inside it). Comes with standard UK 13A plug, and has a switch on the cord. The only gripe is that if you want a clip-on clamp for it, this has to be purchased separately (it costs around £7), so it loses a star for that in my books. The clamp holds nice and firm to some tubular metal shelving we have next to it. The grill over the lamp would be a bonus, I imagine, if you use this in a set-up with lizards or snakes that might try and climb on the lamp - not such a problem with turtles or torts! BUT...... I've just bought another one (having read some poor reviews for ZOOmeds's deep dome lamp along the way), and this one sort of imploded on me as I moved it into position with a UVB bulb inside. The procelain holder seemed to fall apart, the shade then fell out of the holder, taking the bulb with it, and the impact of it hitting the viv below made the bulb break! Not at all happy with this second unit.

Der Thermo Socket Reflector plus mini wurde mit dem dazugehörigen Dark Spot Mini getestet-funktionierte nicht, der Keramikheizstrahler wurde nicht warm. ... Dark Sport mini in eine andere E27 Fassung montiert, dort funktionierte er einwandfrei. Der Fehler liegt hier also an dem Thermo Socket. Wird zurückgeschickt.

Bisher bin ich mit diesem Thermo Socket sehr zufrieden. Ich habe in meinem Vollglas-Terrarium eine größere Rückwand gebaut. Da die Lampe nah an der Wand ist, benötige ich einen Lampenschutz. Diese sind üblichweise riesig in kleineren Terrarien. Diese Fassung mit Schutz ist wunderbar platzsparend (Durchmesser unten ca. 11,5cm, Höhe ca. 12cm) und durch die matte Optik schön unauffällig. Es benötigt eine 1cm Bohrung, die Fassung liegt innen und ist also nicht sichtbar. Hier hat man außerdem ein normales Steckdosenkabel mit üblichen Schalter. Dazu passt die Lucky Reptile Halogen Sun Mini.

Nicht wirklich mini - war deutlich größer als ich sie mir vorgestellt hatte - aber eine gute Lösung, wenn man zum Beispiel im Lichtkasten Höhe einsparen möchte...
