This kit is great as it contains the different size tips for base and clear coat. It did take a learning curve to dial in the knobs but once you get it it appears to work. Best for Base coat applications. Clear coat application ease of use may depend on what you purchase for Clear coat.

I bought this along with a 2.0mm nozzle so I could spray my kitchen cabinets.In addition I also bought the 3M 26003 PPS 2.0, S2c 16mm female,1.5mm adapter for the 3M 26301 PP2.0 22oz spray gun cup, lids and liners kit with the 125 micron filter. Those are not cheap but make the spraying experience a LOT easier. Also a $10 water/air separator, so you don't get spots in your finish.Of course you need an air compressor to make it all happen. I ended up getting a Kobalt 26 gal quiet tech 4.5 cfm @ 90 psi for $380 from Lowes.Using the R500 was easy and it comes with instructions, although they could be a lot better. I was able to use primer and SW emerald urethane satin enamel straight, without having to thin it. I took out the plastic inline filter from the spray gun because it wasn't necessary.Overall I'm very impressed with the results that I was able to get! Make sure that you use a respirator and if you're spraying inside a cabinet use a piece of cardboard to cover your respirator to protect from the blowback. Otherwise your respirator will get clogged very quickly.Update!After using it on a number of home projects - kitchen, living room cabinets, front door etc - I'm getting really good results, although there is a learning curve.Some things to remember - keep all 6 holes in the spray gun nozzle clear. If you're spraying side to side, turn your nozzle with the tips vertical. Up and down, turn the nozzle horizontal to get the best coverage.Because the instructions aren't very clear - the top red knob determines the shape of the spray. #4 on the knob works for me. The bottom red knob determines the amount of paint coming out. Between #1 and 2 works for me. you'll just have to play with it.If the amount of air is too great, you'll tend to be splatters. Fortunately SW Emerald urethane satin enamel will level out. Also - too much air doesn't allow the paint to cover as well as it should.The method that has worked the best for me is spraying side to side and then immediately up and down while having a bright led light on the floor shining up while I'm looking down from the top upon a ladder. That way I can see and then soak the areas that need it, without applying too much and that will prevent drips. May sound crazy, ha, but it works! :)Hanging my cabinet doors from my garage ceiling with wire, various hooks and strong clothes hangars enables me to hold onto the hangar while spraying and then immediately turn it around to spray the other side.

Now the reason I normally this spray gun was it came with 3 different fluid caps and a regulator and the gun is metal not aluminum. Unread all the reviews on this gun and since I used to own a Sharpe Platinum version morning and beat that gun unfortunately mine broke this one looks good and it sprays very well from unrthan to oil base paints also tri color and pearl pants it gets the job done and looks good the gun is very comfortable in your hand the size is perfect and I must say that the gun is machines very well and it's easy to disassemble and reassemble and all the functions work just like they should I means the price you can't go wrong no orange peel no runs or drips nice quick gun to paint almost anything with except clear coat I noticed a couple of rough panels after using this to clear coat a car door . Nowy Sharpe was way over $800 dollars and this gun did a pretty remarkable job I was impressed with it. So yes but this gun you won't be disappointed

This thing did a great job but not a heavy duty gun I did a my truck bed and you can see little stuff but way better and cheaper the a cheep body shop probably gives the cheap place a slap in th face but you don’t have a Ferrari
