So I've "wanted a chainsaw" for some time, but really haven't had the need for one until recently. A gardening project involving 80+ hardwood railway sleepers, many of which needed a cut, finally gave me the excuse I needed.I'm a fan of Makita tools, and given this was a one off project couldn't justify the battery powered version (which may well not have been able to cope), and from an ease of use perspective an electric corded chainsaw is just so much better/lower maintenance & probably much safer to use than a petrol version.So I got this version, and was somewhat apprehensive at using it, as I've not used chainsaws before. So with the correct PPE, and having (for once) thoroughly read the user guide I set about using it - and was hugely impressed.With no mucking about starting the engine it is simplicity itself once you get used to it, and the appropriate precautions. It just kept going and going, slicing through oak railway sleepers with ease and a complete lack of drama. Absolutely no mess/fuss at all. Being new then keeping an eye on the chain tension was needed, and a couple of adjustments over the two days or so of use was all that was necessary. The chain oil didn't visibly change level at all, and I think a lot of use is necessary to make a dint in that.So this was a perfect tool to cope with the job, and I'd really recommend it to anyone needing one. For me this saved countless hours sawing/messing about to cut through the sleepers - and as the timber yard charges £3 a cut it more than paid for itself in one job.

J'ai été impressionné par son débit, largement supérieur à la tronçonneuse thermique (Stihl) de la personne avec qui je travaillais pour débiter des billons en 50cm.Il faut avouer qu'une chaîne neuve fait une grande différence.Précision importante par rapport à certains commentaires : sur ma tronçonneuse l'ergot de tension de la chaîne est en acier, pas en plastique ! J'en ai néanmoins acheté 3 pour une dizaine d'euros au cas où.Seul bémol : la chaîne se détend systématiquement sur les grosses coupes et lorsque la chaîne chauffe. Il faut donc régulièrement débloquer le système de blocage, puis le rebloquer : ça résoud le problème, mais c'est très pénible sur la durée !Ce dernier point mis à part, cette machine est très agréable (beaucoup plus qu'une thermique) et vraiment efficace.
