Mandoline Bridge, Palisander H?henverstellbare Br¨¹cke Mandoline Instrument DIY Reparatur Teile

Needed a bridge for a vintage flat top mandolin. This is made for an arch top one, but easily sanded for a flat top.

I bought this for a standard arch top mandolin. It came without any instructions or guidance of any kind.First I noticed that the metal inserts had no grooves - luckily I have a mini - file to do that. Then it became obvious that the spacers were in the wrong position. Using a small pair of pliers it took quite a while to lift out the spacers and reposition them.It became obvious when installing the bridge that the string action would end up far too high. The only way to improve this was to remove the round metal adjusting screw altogether. Then I had to saw the rods in half so that the top section lays flat on the bottom section. Remarkably that gave me exactly the playing action I wanted. Even then I had to sand parts of the base in order to get a flush fit with the mandolin surface.I have ended up with what I want but what a struggle.

Bridge is perfect.but I think I ordered the wrong one .And no instructions on how to alter metal parts.So have had to buy the other type

The parts this company sells is 80% garbage. The bridge for mandolin in the picture is junk. The position of the string supports is even wrong. Also, the thumb wheel height adjust was stuck on the right side and there is a random hole drilled into the side. Absolutely un-usable

On the positive side ...I was able to replace my cracked mandolin bridge.On the negative sideThe bridge is much higher that the old bridge so the action and intonation are negatively affected.The string saddles need to be removed and adjusted so the strings rest on them (quite easily done with a pair of long nose pliers).The strings are now free to straighten themselves under tension and therefore are much closer together which makes the instrument harder to play.In summary.I should have gone for a similar bridge style. This bridge may work on some mandolins but it doesn't really suit mine at all. I'll just use it as a stop gap until I fit a similar bridge to the old one.
