This is my second purchase of this mixed furikake pack. For those unfamiliar, furikake is a delightful mix of small pieces of seaweed, dried bonito, sesame, and more, adding a burst of umami flavor and texture to your rice or congee. What I love about this furikake product is its diverse range of flavors. It comes in five different varieties, including Bonito, Beef, Egg, Fish, and a Mix Pack, and they are absolutely delicious and flavourful. The best part is that everything is authentically made in Japan, and that the ingredients used are mostly natural food ingredients, with natural flavorings and colorings. However, I did notice the use of palm oil in some variants. I don’t see preservatives in the ingredients, and that might explain why the pack that I purchased in February has an expiration date of August of the same year. One thing to note is that the five flavors come in different sizes, with some larger and some smaller. Additionally, there is no option to choose specific flavors as the pack includes all five variants. While this might limit customization, the variety is a great way to explore different tastes. In conclusion, if you're looking to add authentic Japanese flavors to your meals, this furikake product is a must-try. It's convenient, flavorful, and adds a delicious touch to a variety of dishes.

This selection gave me no doubles, which was great and each flavour was fabulous, adding instant enhancement to my meals, be they quick meals or more complex meals, There is a somewhat fish taste to some of them, especially, of course the ones that are cod roe or other fish based, but they also have other savoury flavour notes. So if you are not a fish fan, I would still give these a shot; a few tries should get you accustomed to the tastes and loving them. I also had a beef sukiyaki flavoured one, which I don’t eat, but a meat eating friend tried it and it has become her favourite.

Seriously sukiyaki flavor is so damn good. I felt like I wasn't even eating rice anymore just blasts of flavor.I love the variety you get with this sampler, it's just a shame that the price was raised since I purchased this 3 years ago. You can buy these individual packets in Japan for like 100 yen (around $1 +tax). So a pack of 5 for $13 bucks? That's quite the markup even if the cost of shipping from Japan is included...I'll include the names of each packet in english-ish in case you want to search for individual flavors! :)Flavor profile of the other packets for the curious.- Tarako (Pink Packet)Slightly fishy taste. It'll get a little mushier than the other seasonings. Tarako is supposed to be pollock or cod roe flavor. If you like that, you'll enjoy this one.- Noritama (Green Packet)Nori = the toasty seaweed. Tama = short for tamago, or egg. This is basically egg + toasted seaweed. The egg is more powdery and crunchy. You taste mostly the nori/toasted seaweed.- Bonito-Egg-Seaweed (purple package)The remaining two tasty very similar. The only difference is the purple one has those egg sprinkles that the noritama packet does.- Bonito-Seaweed (black package)Same flavor profile as purple package, but slightly more umami.
