This mattress plastic cover is indeed very thick and it protects our mattress very well. We are having our spare bedroom renovated and with all the dust and plaster all over the place I wanted something that would protect the mattress not only from renovation but also my cats who decided to make it their bed.So far this plastic withstood a week in dusty room with cats having a good go at trying to destroy it. Sure it is affected by the claws but it hasn't ripped and it kept our mattress clean.
