I believe I am so far the first UK reviewer of the Maxcom MM41D 4G GSM Smart Corded Desktop Telephone. Why did I buy it?My monthly contract with BT had got to £89 a month for landline and an internet connection of 50Mbit. When City Fibre and Toob offered me 900 MBit fibre to the door for £25 a month it was a no brainer to get rid of BT.I do however like a phone that is always in one place (not getting lost down the side of the sofa), that does not run out of battery power, has a loud ring tone that can heard in most places in the house and once the capital cost has been paid for only costs me the number of phone calls used and the electricity from the wall socket.Maxcom MM41D 4G GSM Smart Corded Desktop Telephone the only thing that worried me with the description was the use of the word “Corded”. Now I have used this telephone I can definitely say that it only uses a Sim card to connect with the designated mobile phone service provider and that the cord refers to the telephone handset to the desk telephone connection.Whats it like to use?First of all get a UK Sim card. I use and like GiffGaff as they do pay as you go or a simple low as £6 monthly data and calls deals. The Sim Card needs to be an SD Sim size or if a micro sim size needs a carrier adaptor available from Amazon. The telephone does need to be assembled when taken out the delivery box! It’s simple, I am 80 years old and can do it. However I have been an electronics engineer all my working life, so it could be technically challenging for some people!Read the handbook that comes with it and follow the instructions and all should go well. For us 80 year olds best have a magnifying glass handy to read the very small printing in the small handbook, or download the PDF from the Net.Whilst it looks like a standard desk phone please remember that it is in fact a very big mobile phone and as such requires the full dialling code to be used when calling a BT local area telephone number. As you can use the contact lookup function on the phone to dial numbers that you use a lot then there is very little key tapping needed.I would say this desktop phone feels like an old style Nokia phone to use if you use the display screen functions. For those used to a BT landline phone just use it in the same way, pickup the handset you will hear a tone and just start keying in the numbers as you have always done press the green telephone button and it will try to connect with the phone you have dialled. Likewise pick up the handset when the phone rings and put the phone handset back in the cradle to finish a call. One good thing is that as far as I know this type of phone will disconnect completely unlike the BT landline phone, so it should be safer to use.Signal strength of this desktop mobile phone is excellent in my opinion. My house has breeze block walls with a lot of slag ion ash and this kills most radio signals, often my iPhone mobile shows only 1 bar for signal strength. Because this desktop phone has a fairly large antenna I am getting 3 bars on the signal strength display. If required an extension aerial could be used in a very poor signal spot.Is it worth the extra money? I think it is, the cheaper similar desktop Sim phones appear to only work with 2G signals which are being phased out of service, the Maxcom MM41D 4G does seem to working well with 4G signals. I also like that it is European (Polish) company making these phones.Time will tell how good and long lasting the phone is.As a last thought the phone works in a power cut because it has an internal battery and can act as a tether to keep a computer connect to the internet if your fibre optic connection goes down.

Veramente pessimo decisamente sconsigliato.
