Magnifico material

I bought these to replace the standard door speakers in a 2001 BMW 320 convertible. The standard speakers were pretty terrible, with a really painful tweeter sound when turned up, while still giving very little bass. I originally thought this was down to the original pitiful radio/cassette + 6-CD autochanger setup, but I replaced this with a Dynavin satnav/mp3/i-pod unit and there was virtually no improvement. So I went for these speakers. On the plus side, these new speakers definitely have a much better sound quality than the stock speakers. The magnets on the main speakers are larger diameter, the frame is metal instead of plastic and the sound is much less tinny. The new tweeter is much larger than the original which probably accounts for some of the improvement. So in the end they are a good buy. In fact I ordered a second set for the rear panels (but see update below).Watch the price; I have seen them anywhere between £85 and £160.Fitting, on the other hand was a bit of a pain. The 'fitting manual' is just a leaflet with some very small diagrams of where the speakers might go. One of these is pure fantasy (see update below). The new tweeters would not fit where the old ones went, being about 50% bigger, in fact I left the old ones where they were. I made a new hole in the plastic blanking plate next to the old tweeters which is presumably to accommodate the Kardboard Hardon option. This took a while with Stanley knife, sandpaper and so on. Then the connectors are c.1990 tabs, nothing like the original blocks. Luckily I had a few of these rubbishy old tab connectors lying around. They really should supply a couple of those. You also need duct tape to stick down miles of spare wire and the crossovers that otherwise just rattle around. You could cut the wires, but that means more connectors. In the end, it is all hidden in the door, so no harm done.All in all, I am pleased. A convertible will never be a concert hall, but these speakers are a real improvement on the originals. Be prepared for some swearing while you fit them.Update; these will definitely not fit the rear of a 2001 320 convertible; the rear needs 13cm speakers, whatever they say. I only realised this when I took the rear panel off. So the second set had to go back. Pity.

Der Tiefmitteltöner passt ohne irgendwelche Arbeiten, der HT lässt sich einfach in der Styroporaufnahme des Spiegeldreieckes befestigen, Sicherlich gibt es verschiedene Hörgeschmäcker und ein Adapter für die Lautsprecheranschlüsse ist nicht dabei. Für mich gar kein Problem da ich entsprechende Kabelschuhe und Crimpzange zu Hause hatte. So habe ich die Originalkabel mit Crimpkabelschuhen versehen und das System läuft in Verbindung mit dem 30 cm Subwoofer und dem Verstärker wirklich hervorragend.Von mir Fünf Sterne

Altavoces muy por debajo de su precio. Los devolví a las 2h de probarlos, vaya decepción. no valen 130€ ni en sueños. Me compré unos Kenwood de la mitad de precio, y suenan mejor!!!

So I was looking for a bit of an upgrade to improve the SQ in my E46 coupe so after hearing good things about these speakers I ordered a set along with another with just the speakers on its own. They are very well made and are in fact bigger than the originals but still able to fit in perfectly. The issue with these though is the supplied tweeter. These are not a direct swap and you can't remove the tweeter from the housing as its glued in. As the housing is fairly big it will not fit in where the original tweeter would seat. My car has Harmon Kardon so has the 60mm mid range in the door card in addition so there is no room to fit the supplied tweeter as it is.So not wanting to take them apart to try and make them fit these have been returned for a refund and will be ordering another set of speakers only. Look for my review of the speakers only.
