Of course, the "silent" head isn't really silent but it is "practice in the car while spouse drives" quiet. Another way of saying it's the most quiet and realistic feeling of any of the practice heads/pads I've ever tried. Big Ups!We all know that nothing substitutes for practice but even after you get the hang of changing out the head, it's still a PITA. It's also heavier than the aluminum ones from Brasil Two things to keep in mind if you feel like you can't afford two drums. But for having at the ready around the house for whenever the spirit moves you, it, uh, "can't be beat"

This is well made piece of kit. I have made great use of it to practice without disturbing anyone with noise. The only draw back is that it does not feel the same as a normal tamborim as the silent-skin has more bounce than the normal skin.

Works as advertised, with the same response as a normal nylon head but very little noise. Definitely a relationship saver!
