Okay, I did need to read the manual, but unlike older, much more complex metal detectors, the instructions and user interface on this one are much shorter, straightforward, and easier to master. First thing noticed after opening the box is this comes folded up in small package about one third the size of other detectors I've used. Also, there's no coil wire wrapped around the shaft to get in the way of things. Instead that wire is neatly routed inside the telescoping shaft to keep things tidy. It's slick design feature that, along with the folding control head mount, allows this to quickly fold into such a small package for transport or storage. Then it just as easily unfolds into a full-size detector in a minute with just one thumbscrew*.The detector weighs just 3 pounds without accessories. When assembled for use, the shaft length can be telescoped in or out to accommodate a person of most any height. Length of the shaft is roughly 29 to 50 inches including the arm brace. The shaft length is adjustable after releasing one or both of the shaft quick release lever locks. Flip one or both levers up, telescope shaft in or out, lock levers and done. I'm 6' tall and have room to spare near the longer length. At shorter lengths it can accommodate a youngster.Folded for travel or storage, in the included backpack, it measures just5" x 9" x 17". Note that the arm brace must be removed before the shaft can be telescoped to its shortest for storage. With everything in the backpack, including the little pick/shovel that weighs nearly a pound, total weight is a hair over 4-1/2 pounds. An impressive bit of design engineering! The ground here is frozen until Spring, so searching for real buried treasure will have to wait. Function testing was done with small objects in the house where it's warm. It passed all tests with appropriate beeps, chirps and tones while indicating the "treasures" on the LCD display. For a metal detector that's passing with flying colors.* The thumbscrew that attaches the arm brace is quick acting, needing only 3 turns to secure or remove. Though it looks like it screws into plastic, which would not be so good, it actually screws into a captive metal nut inside the plastic housing - that's good! However, I don't like that the screw is separate and could get lost. If you notice it missing right away, the good news is you probably have a metal detector handy and you can hold the parts together while you search for that screw! Better solution would be to tie a thin cord to the Screw head and secure the other end to the detector shaft.

It doesn’t have the reliable accuracy and adjustable settings of my Garrity, but I was able to find some coins and a hot wheels right away. It’s a simplified interface, with no gold icon, but it does have one for pop tops, which is handy. The coil is built-in, not changeable. The whole thing is extremely light. The waterproofing seems legit, the electronics are sealed. It’s a serviceable option when the full-size one is inconvenient. This folds out to basically full size, but packs down small. Comes in a basic zip bag and that fits in a normal backpack no problem. Also includes a metal folding shovel, which is probably half the total weight. I wouldn’t pick this over a professional tool, but it works, it’s easy, it’s packable, and it’s totally waterproof. This one can go underwater, at least I think the whole thing can. I haven’t tested that to any depths. I’m not sure the headphone port is sealed, so maybe not. I think this is worth the price of $130 for an easy entry-level machine.

I really liked the OKESAM Metal Detector for Adults because it's waterproof and fun to use once you understand how it works. I have always wanted to detect for gold and silver. Some of the features that I liked are that this is a cordless Gold Detector with LCD Display, it's Foldable, Retractable and it is a higher accuracy metal detector with 10" IP68 Coil - Orange. This is more of a professional metal detector because it's upgraded with a DSP chip, which allows it to detect at a depth of 10", more than two inches deeper than many other similar metal detectors. It has a 2000 mAh Lithium battery, which is easy to keep charged. I liked this unit so much I ordered another one as a gift for my grandchildren--it made a great gift! I recommend this product to others--it's a good value for the money--five stars!
