Bought this for my DeWalt 18 volt battery powered 1/2" impact driver. I purchased the impact driver because I needed a tool that was multi-functional being 1/2" drive and 1/4" hex (with adapter). After reading the terrible reviews of the DeWalt brand adapter, I was dismayed. Luckily, someone recommended this Milwaukee Shockwave 1/2" adapter. The size of the DeWalt adapter was about 6" long, which to me, would make is very unsteady and awkward to use. This one is a mere 1 7/8" (less than 2" long). Yes, there is just a bit of wobble, but anytime you add something to a power tool to extend or adapt the tool, there's going to be a little bit of movement between to joints.I like the way the hex head adapter locks into place just with a pull back motion. I also like that I can attach this adapter to my 1/2" driver either by lining up the friction ball with the hole in the adapter or lining up the friction ball with one of the detents instead. I'm 4'10" and I may be strong, but I have to use a punch to push in the friction ball to get the adapter off my DeWalt if I line up the hole and friction ball. This adapter is well made and I expect it to last me a lifetime. If I were using this daily or quite often in my job as a mechanic, I would have purchased an extra one just in case this one failed. It's possible, with heavy usage, that one of the retaining rings or internal workings could fail in a time of need.

This product is a genius product. Use this with any magnetic bit holder and it turns your impact gun into a battery drill. I would recommend using low torque modes for screwing stuff in as it will snap the drill bit very quickly due to the impact / hammer function
