Any country is capable of making excellent quality, and this holder is a perfect example.It is manufactured by Mitutoyo Suzhou, in China and is by far exceptional in quality as compared to the other Chinese knock-offs Micrometer Stands. Immediately you may be off put by the fact that it is made in China; but note that it is backed by Mitutoyo's name.The threads lock up rigidly and the enamel coating is consistent and appealing to the eyes (unlike the poor faux renditions) . The knobs are very large and provide excellent grip.

The stand sits flat on a work surface – no unsteadiness. Simple to operate and makes repeated measuring so much easier. I choose this more expensive Mitutoyo stand over cheaper ones because I associate Mitutoyo with high quality. I can't know if it is better than the cheaper stands available on Amazon, but I am confident that it will last a long time given the build quality.Being able to free up a hand when making repeated measurements is a big plus. An invaluable tool to have – very glad I bought this.
