Morphy Richards Slow Cooker 3,5 liter 48709 Geborsteld Staal Slowcooker

I bought this slow cooker as a gift for a friend but I already have the same model. It is very basic but that means there is not much to go wrong on it and you really can't go too wrong with using it if you can manage straightforward cooking and common sense. Sometimes I will just through all my ingredients in together, particularly if I'm running short on time but I prefer to prepare my stews and spaghetti sauce as you would normally, so I soften onions and garlic and brown meat, flour it first if it's for a stew, etc. There is nothing so rewarding than getting home form a long day in winter and having a piping hot meal waiting for you. There is now plenty of information available on the internet for slow cookers so it is really easy to get inspiration meals. Happy cooking!

Better to get this pot than the sear and stew because with that, the coating comes off very quickly revealing what appears to be an aluminium pot. I found that even the metal of that pot started eroding away, which could be dangerous to health.One downside with this pot is that you need to be careful using from fridge to the slow cooker as previously I cracked one, doing this.Also, the glass lid shattered for no apparent reason.

We have had one of these for many years but it died last week. So I ordered a like for like replacement. The slow cooker is basic, but I don't need anything else, it has four settings - off, low, medium and high, no timer no searing function. It is well made and durable and has survived me, and the dishwasher well. It does all you can ask, that is cook slowly and at a gentle heat. Food, especially meat is wonderfully tender and the flavours of any herbs and spices used have time to impart their flavours to the dish you are preparing.

For some strange reason Amazon is asking me for "flavour" on this item - I do not intend to try eating it so have left that bit blank. Now, with a slow cooker the important bits are 1. It cooks and 2. It's not complicated to use. There seems to be a fashion these days for putting computer chips in everything although y myriad and confusing "porgrammes" that then become available are no substitute for common sense which I still employ but young'uns seem to be short of these days. This cooker has none of these unnecessary gadgets but does the job well.

Really good bit of kit for the kitchen, can make some great stews and soups with it. My only one issue was that it sometimes struggles cooking onions and garlic from raw, which is a real time saver if I'm making food to save messing around in the evening (which my previous slow cooker could do). That being said, sauteing them before hand makes it taste much better!
