I have used M-Pro 7 LPX Gun Oil for more than 4 years and have to say, I have not found one single negative aspect with it. It is an exceptional, the next generation of products to lubricate and protect your firearms from rusting, and is one of the "Top Two" gun oils on the market today, in my opinion. I have used it on my revolvers, pistols, shotguns, rifles and Colt LE6920 M4 carbine and have never been disappointed with its ease of use or its performance in any of my firearms.I have read where some reviewers have complained about the smell of M-Pro 7 LPX Gun Oil. To poorly paraphrase the prose of the Bard (I hope he will forgive me), "A nose is a nose is a nose. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." I actually find the M-Pro 7 LPX Gun Oil to have a very pleasant smell. I can, and have several times previously, cleaned my firearms in our Master Bedroom. When I did, I never received as much as a raised eyebrow from my wife when she came into the room. The only comment she ever made was when she asked me if I was wearing a new men;s fragrance product. I would never have cleaned one of my firearms in our Master Bedroom, or even considered having done that with the old Hoppe's gun products or some of the other stinky gun cleaning products I used before "getting high" was a fun thing to do.I've also read where some reviewers have complained about the small flip-up / flip-down applicator tip on this product in the 2 oz. and 4 oz. sizes..I keep a #1 (small) paperclip in the small ziplock bag in which I store my M-Pro 7 LPX Gun Oil. (I keep ALL the liquids I keep in my range bag inside the appropriate size ziplock bag to minimize potential problems and cleanup inside my range bag in case of an accidental leak from, or puncture of, the product's container.) The paper clip is perfect for lifting the small applicator tip to use the M-Pro 7LPX Gun Oil when I want to use it.I've read where some reviewers have complained about the small size of the applicator tip, but I find its small size helps prevent me from applying too much of the product in any specific area of my firearm. My experience with the product's small applicator tip is that it dispenses the product one drop at a time, rather than in a stream or spray. When I use it on my firearms, I keep the part I'm lubricating with M-Pro 7 LPX Gun Oil tilted at a bit of a downward angle from the point of application because the LPX Gun Oil will naturally flow, slowly, down the surface on which it is applied. As it does so, surface energy "pulls" the "thin-coat" technology synthetic LPX lubricants into the pores of the metal with which it comes into contact, providing a very effective, long-lasting lubrication that has the lowest known friction coefficient providing the highest protection for your firearms (and other things) against wear, humidity, moisture, even salt water, that can cause rust, and leaves a thin protective film that does not evaporate or burn off quickly, doesn't separate or get gummy, and, if not applied excessively, repels, rather than collecting dirt, dust, sand, or burnt gunpowder residue (making your next cleaning job that much more difficult and time-consuming). If I accidentally apply too much of the M-Pro 7 LPX Gun Oil to my firearm and it overflows the area I want to lubricate and protect, I just wipe up the excess oil with my "LPX rag", which is a lint-free microfiber rag onto which I previously applied many drops of M-Pro 7 LPX Gun Oil, put it in a ziplock bag, and squeezed the rag inside the bag several times to distribute the LPX oil throughout it. Once I have finished cleaning my firearms, I give the metal surfaces one more wipe-down with my "LPX rag" to remove any fingerprints and body oils or acids that may have been left on my firearm during the cleaning process that might attract moisture and promote surface rusting. I avoid rubbing the stock, forearm or handgrip of my firearms, which are made of wood or synthetic materials, with my LPX rag because M-Pro 7 LPX Gun Oil does not penetrate into wood or synthetic plastics and would simply sit on their surface, making them somewhat slippery if not wiped off.I also have another use for M-Pro 7 LPX Gun Oil that has worked exceptionally well for me. I store my ammo in color-coded and clearly labeled-by- caliber ammo cans. I keep the contents of each of my ammo cans safely protected with two MasterLock Keyed-Alike Rustoleum-coated padlocks, which have strong 9/16" shackles that provides extra cut resistance. Once each year, or whenever I add a new ammo can to my "collection", I put one drop of M-Pro 7 LPX Gun Oil on each open padlock's shackle where it enters the padlock body, then turn the lock upside down and put one drop in the key slot. After giving the LPX oil a chance to flow through the lock and get to the tumblers, I insert the key and turn it clockwise and counterclockwise several times to help distribute the LPX oil to each of the pins and springs inside the tumblers in the lock. I finish by putting a drop of LPX oil into the hole in the padlock's body where the shackle slides in and engages the locking mechanism, and squeeze the padlock closed. I also use two MasterLock 14" Cable Keyed-Alike Gun Locks that I pass the cable through the holes in the ends of all the zipper pulls of my GunMate Range Bags to prevent unauthorized entry (a.k.a. snooping kids and adults) into the contents of my two range bags, one for my two Ruger .38 Special/.357 Magum revolvers, and one for my two Beretta 9mm pistols. I use the same PM lubrication/rust prevention process that I use on the padlocks securing my ammo cans on my range bags padlocks. They all open easily and quickly when I insert the proper key and turn it, and will probably continue to do that for many more years to come.
