This holds the very small scraps but does not lessen the water drainage and you can wash it in the dishwasher. I had my sink’s original drain which allowed almost half of the scraps to pass so I needed to use drain cleaners regularly. I also tried silicone ones which were meh.

I have had this product for 2 years now and it's still in mint condition. Once you purchase it you will be stunned by the amount of food that is entering your drain if you have no filter. I got it because the drain kept on clogging but now the residue can be filtered out and put in the trash. Great investment.
