Engineer make two pliers in the series, PZ-57 and PZ-58 and they differ slightly. But the advertised function of both pliers is to remove small screws/bolts whose heads are damaged and cannot be turned by a screw driver or wrench. The 57 is intended for use on fastener heads up to about 3mm or 1/8". The 58 is intended for screw heads 3 to 9.5mm or 3/8". They work by having serrations cut lengthwise (north/south) into the gripping front of the pliers heads. So simply slip the ends of the pliers onto the screw head and turn the pliers as if you were trying to twist wire. In this action the pliers are twisted as you would a screw driver. The serrations dig into the screw head and allow twisting force to be applied in line with the screw. Serrations on most pliers are east/west on the gripping face and so are not as effective in this usage. There are the normal east/west serrations just behind the north/south jaws allowing the pliers to function as grippers where the object to grip is inserted into the side of the pliers, like most other pliers. The 58 has wire cutters at the back of the jaws to cut 3mm or 1/8" copper wire…not steel wire. The 57 has no wire cutters. There is another nice touch to the 58 which the 57 does not have--a spring to hold the jaws open...mores the pity. The jaws have a hardness of HRC58. Therefore they are not really suitable for hardened screw heads, nor should the pliers grip screw threads; screw threads may damage the pliers serrations. For their intended functions of releasing and removing screws whose heads are damaged these are welcome additions to my tool case. A final note: I have the Engineer SS02 solder sucker and its a joy to use. So I'm developing a positive bias toward Engineer tools; cough, cough, well at least for these particular pliers and solder sucker.

Copy and Paste from review of other pliers from the same brand:All pliers from this manufacturer are top notch. Best grip on the market if you have damaged screws that need to be removed. I ended up getting a few different pliers, well worth it!

Per me sono state eccezionali. Ricordatevi di prenderle per la misure giusta della vite che vi da problemi, questa va da 3mm a 9,5mm
